Question Panamera Questions or Concerns...

I know this isn't a forum for Panamera owners, but I thought I would ask if anyone has any information on things to watch for when buying one. We are looking at purchasing a 2010 Panamera 4S and if anyone has any suggestions as to what to look out for, I would greatly appreciate it.

We drove 8 hours round trip, through 2 states yesterday to meet her and take her on a test drive. As expected, she did not disappoint. She is clean, regularly maintained, 55k miles, from an individual and we should receive the service records this week. For what it's worth, we ran a Carfax on her and everything matched what we have been told so far.

Any help or information would be great. I didn't find this sight to learn about our baby Boxster until after we rescued her, so I'd like to see if there are issues to be aware of for the Panamera. Thanks!!

Carfax, PPI, and service records should tell you everything you need to know. PDK should engage smoothly and shift positively. Panamera S is my preferred model of the 4 doors and it is a lotta car.

Don't know much about them other than it's huge. A tank. My brother has one and yes they do handle well specially for that size. Interior looks great and roomy but I can't stand the looks outside. Just my opinion.

And I just read this a few days ago.

@Topless: Thank you for the help. She definitely wants to roar on the city streets!

@cas951: I appreciate your opinion. We are actually down scaling size wise from our Cadillac SRX so the Panamera is smaller to us. Thank you for your input

I would love to have one of these! Personally, the style grows on you. A lot of car for the money especially if you can find a low mile used one.

@BruceH: I agree about them growing on you. The first time I seen one I was like WTH? It has grown on me...LOL... Since owning our Boxster, we have fallen in love with the quality that Porsche brings to the table. Simply outstanding. We still have a child at home and with the winters in Kansas, we needed something a little bigger than just a sports car and something with AWD. We also have a 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, so the Panamera should fit in nicely.

Frankly, I think it is a beautiful car, especially in the dark eggplant color

I can't see how this could be too helpful to the OP in determining what to look out for, or what possible issues to be aware of . Maybe I'm missing something.

I too like the looks, but all that really matters is that mrs. robinson and her husband (partner?) do!

Do some searches on Google for subjects like "Panamera problems" or "Panamera sucks", etc. and you'll find more than enough reading...

Don't buy/ lease a Panamera until you read this!!

2011 Panamera Turbo - NIGHTMARE! Anyone else having issues with this model?

This video below is a horrible review of the car but he was so dang funny that I had to post it...

Tom.......Your boy there seems to have a firm grasp of the vernacular lol.

To the OP'er, I've heard opposing views on the Panamera from those who've actually owned them, strangely very little middle ground on impressions. One occurrence that did strike me; while waiting on a friend who was dropping his car off for service the dealer had a 2 year old Panamera Twin Turbo in the showroom I was looking over, it was the sales manager's friends car they were trying to sell. The salesman who I know told me in a hushed tone "you really don't want one of those", kind of surprised me.

I'm hoping to discourage him from buying one. I understand beauty is within the beholders eye. Panamera has great reviews and looks great from the inside from the outside it's still ugly to me. I think it belongs to the top 5 ugliest cars made like the Pontiac Aztek. If you have to wait for the look to grow on you it's probably ugly.

I'd look for an M5.

My brother asked for my opinion before he no ught his Panamera S. I told him the same thing and I was straight up with him. Panamera and Cayene are Porsches best sellers. Panamera just doesn't look right to me.

I would never refuse to drive a car based on its appearance, personally I think the Panamera while bloated, has clean regal lines, simply no worse than any suv, not to mention it is refreshing to have soft lines as supposed to all the other German makes hard lines, or Lexus's lack of styling all togeather.

Best of luck with the car, I know little about them but I can imagine it's the best way to transport more than two (assuming your passengers are not amputees, otherwise the 911 wins)

The review nitpicks are really pretty funny. You might think that someone spending $100k on a new car might spend 30 minutes and RTFM to figure out how it works. No one bags on the way this car drives. The only words I ever hear are: "Oh my!".

I don't know if I would ever own one but in several drives I have done both as a passenger and driver I was very impressed.

I may be looking into a Panamera for a daily within the next year, a 4S at the least.
