Miss my B'ster....[sad]

And my wife I guess.....

In MO. Dad had a massive stroke. May not make it. Only reminisces about memories based on who is there. Very sad times. He will never live alone again or drive.

Just got here today, rode in his jeep all day. Butt is sore. Need more leather and bucket seats. Need to be lower to ground, more growl, less tire noise.

Have to list the house, put the estate in order. Long week.

I wish you and your dad the best during this time. My dad turned 80 this year, and although he is still in good health, I have this worry constantly in the back of my mind. All my hopes on your dad's recovery.
I drive a Jeep for work everyday.... Boxster feels like a Cadillac Fleetwood afterwards. The contrast certainly helps one appreciate it all the more.

Sorry to hear this. I know how you feel, my dad passed earlier this year at 93. All you can do is make the best of the time you both have left. Say what needs to be said; do what needs to be done. Laugh if you need to laugh, cry if you need to cry. Then when you look back, there will be no regrets.

Thanks. He had stopped taking meds over a year ago because he felt so much better with his stents. No food at house. He was on the floor all night after this.

Told him today it was my brother and my request to do what doctors say and to eat better and that meant a lot to us.

That's my younger bro.

Something we can all relate to. My parents are in excellent health at 80 and 78 but one never knows. For that matter, you never know about yourself. Life is short, make the most of it. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Thank you all for your kind words. It makes it 'dusty' in here. Your advise and support means a lot. Bro and I have to decide what will keep him alive the longest.

Stable. Loss of some mental capacity, hearing, sight. But otherwise still dad.

Have to tell him he's not going home alone. That will be as rough as explaining he can no longer drive. Also need to secure guns, he's just not 100%. He doesn't realize yet we will need to list & sell his house because he cannot live alone anymore. Needs assisted living.

Hardest part? Very odd sense of humor. It's really him, but docs think mentally unstable.

Prayers for you and your family, and for patience with each other and the medical staff. I hope you have or can get account info, passwords, gun safe combo, etc. Be patient, stay positive, but know that you need a release.

Hang in the Tim. Our thoughts are with you
Do a lot of checking on any assisted living place. My mother-in-law has advanced Alzheimer's and we could no longer care for her and we found what we thought was a really good board and care. To make a long story short, they did the minimum needed for her sustenance. They were big on having holiday parties with the residents and their families . A few hours after everyone had left and they were cleaning up, she fell and broke her hip as they were not paying attention. She was 89 at the time.

After she got out of the hospital and rehab we moved her to a smaller facility, only 18 residents. She is now thriving and looks and feels great. Big difference when they love the residents and treat them as family rather than a source of revenue

Btw, if you dad served in a war, there may also be VA benefits available to help care for him as well as other state benefits

Sorry to hear the sad news Tim. My dad is only 55, but I still worry about it, since he has a high cholesterol problem(so do I). I have friends having strokes in their 20's and I have seen how tough it can be. Prayers for you and your family. I know its easier said than done but take care and try not to be too hard on yourself.

That fella looks pretty pissed on your pic Tim :/ ouch, poor chap

Good news is your pops appears to be pretty solid and that alone gives me the feeling that he will only get much better with time I'm sure. He also appear to be in good hands with his two sons being there Lucky dude on that part

Relative had similar symptoms here. Memory... some, in fact a lot comes back so tell him not to panic on that. Takes time

You're the boss now, take care of everyone and yourself mate
