Yet another window thread

Recently been having some driver side window issues.

When I use the handle to open the door either from the inside or outside the window does not drop down nor roll up. My second issue, which may be related is that the window, when I am rolling it up sounds like the gears grinding.

So my question is that is this due to the window regulator or the window microswitch - or possibly both?

Any help is greatly appreciated.
