Someone backed into me and left. No note
Ugh. Sick right now. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1407894672.jpg

That scene from Pulp Fiction comes to mind. He says it perfect.
Really sorry to see that. Cameras in the lot? Some people need special torture. |
|
Yeah. Cameras were on. Hope they caught something. We'll know tomorrow.
|
Just look forward to a nice, new respray of the hood & bumper. This is what insurance is for.
Really sucks. Can't post the words that come to mind.... |
Oh wow. So sorry. Yeah...hopefully cameras were around.
|
Sorry for your misfortune. Hope the pics nail the perp.
That hood is going to need more than a respray. |
That is terrible, I hate to see, hope you catch who did it. As others have said, the words that come to mind can not be said .
|
The hood and bumper are damaged for sure. The two fender panels are out of alignment. Ugh. I know cuz I wash it so offen. The lights arnt flush with the body work. Hope it's just body panels and not frame. Of course I had paint protection film I'll have to fight for I bet. Ugh. Ugh ugh.
|
SO sorry to see that. Some people are just trash. I hope it gets fixed soon. :(
|
This xux, biggest problem being the hood :/ Sorry to hear you are having a really bad day... I'd be furious myself
Luck with the insurer mate |
You gotta be kidding? They left that? Insane. And criminal. Hope you find the person.
|
Oh man, that sucks. :( Someone backed into my Mercedes the other week and left two gaping holes in the rear bumper cover (20-year-old urethane shattered, after all).
|
I think at this point, the dash cams are ABSOLUTELY necessary...keep it on when you're parked so you have indisputable evidence...

sent you a PM. Someone did the same to my wife's 993 -- not as bad as yours, but the thought of trying to match 20 year old paint is scary. M |

Good luck with the surveillance video, I hope they catch whoever did it. Steve |
oh wow ... Looking at the first picture I thought maybe the person could have hit you without knowing it ... but then you showed us the second picture of the whole front of the car ... there is no way they would not have known they hit a car ... sorry to see it happen to you. People suck !
|
Sorry that happened to you. Not that it's a fair comparison, but many years ago I came out of a store to find the door of my Golf caved in. It had to have been full on deliberate. I know it was just a Golf but it was my only car and had no body damage until then.
And last summer I met a friend for a smoothie. I left my helmet and leather jacket on my motorcycle, as it was in plain sight of us. When we went to leave I walked her across the parking lot, still within sight of the bike and maybe 100' away. When I walked back towards the bike I was just starting to get that "hey, something is wrong here" feeling. A guy was standing nearby and said, "hey was that your jacket?" A woman had been parked near by in a white van and she had stolen it. I was prepared to follow her but the direction she went forced me to stay where I was until I saw which way she turned. I got on the bike right then but she had disappeared. Never again will I leave my gear on the bike. |
Just because misery loves company, I'll tell you that first of last year I was at the track enjoying a DE dinner on Saturday night when I came out to find my boxster dented on the side by the fan vent hole. The dent was exactly shaped like a bumperette. A fellow Porsche driver did the damage!
No note. No visit from a driver the next day. $1,800 worth of damage. |
I made lemonade out of rotten eggs when this happened to my beloved miata. Not to mention, I didn't have comprehensive insurance at the time so I bought a fender from japan and painted it with my dad :D

I was rear ended in the Boxster S two months ago - over $2500 in damage, mostly suspension out of line. Last month someone backed into the CTT and left, again over $2000 in damage. Make sure you have the car checked out good underneath.
|
Wow...I am sick for you...

Grrrrr.... I hope your insurance company does you right and you're not able to tell after it's fixed. Best of luck |
This is so wrong! I really hope cameras got this and you can nail this! Looks like a brodozer with a hitch bounced off your hood/bumper...

Upgrade Opportunity! :D
It could have been worse. I had a Uhaul knock down a large carport that my Camaro was under. I took the motorcycle to work that day. The car was crushed and a complete write off. The Uhaul renter did not have adequate insurance to cover the 3 cars he totalled that were under the car port. Time for an upgraded bumper and hood for you. :D |

Went to three shops today. One declined because he doesn't do exotics. I appreciate that he told me. The other two are at $4k. Both said the bumbler could be repaired and the hood had to be replaced. They also said that's just the tip of the iceberg. They will know more once they take it apart. |
if your insurance is paying, find the best shop you can

I have a silver hood from a 2003 and that bumper cover almost looks like it could be buffed out. I say pocket the $$ and come see me again. I'll have you back on the road for $150. ;) |

Since it was a parking lot speed hit it sure looks like the damage would be limited to the bumper and hood/latch.
If it was me I'd get a couple estimates and then settle with insurance for the cash and you will have enough to pay for a nice new upgraded bumper, a new hood and a paint job for it all to match. I'd also replace the hood latch components unless they remarkably remained undamaged somehow. Don't forget to haggle for the "lost Value" since once an exotic car has an accident on its record it takes an extra loss in value no matter how well its fixed. For a 986 I figure its a $1000 -$2000 hit. |
Yesterday some sick mother f*#*er side-swiped my box in Colorado Springs and left no note. I'd love five minutes alone with that puke.

Not sure if you have had any work done yet but I am fairly well versed in the body shop industry. People say respray of hood.....your hood will be replaced, hard to tell in the pic but I am pretty sure your bumper can be repaired. I know you have fear of fenders being out of line but they are not. The hood is completely buckled which gives the illusion that your fenders are out of line. Your headlights are out of align because your bumper is pushed in. What I am getting at here is your only damaged parts are your hood and bumper. Maybe some minor stuff going on behind the bumper. Certainly no frame damage. Hope this info gives you some sort of peace of mind.

Had an idiot in a big black tinted window lifted ram decide to gun it at a 4 way when my car was there a good seconds before his. Yay for Porsche breaks though. |
Quote:
Thanks! General consensus is the bumper can be repaired, 8 hrs of body work and 4.2 for paint. Also, general consensus is hood will be replaced. The front trim where the latch is, is down for replace. The latch is remove and re-install unless things don't line up after the new hood. Fenders are down for alignment at this point. Paint protection film will have to be replaced on the hood and bumper, maybe the fenders. Lights are remove and re-install. |

Keep your eye out for a Porsche Performance Driving School. Its a bunch of fun and you will learn just how great Porsche brakes really are as well as how great the car really is. The brakes will stop on a dime and give you 5 cents change |
Well, two weeks after dropping it off at the shop it's done. Need to go back in 4 weeks for opti-coat and paint protection film. New bumper and hood.
