excess brake dust on new boxsters

I notice this more on German cars specifically than others. Think of Audis and Bimmers you've seen with gunmetal gray looking wheels that were actually just dirty. It takes NO-TIME for it to get dirty (and it's worse in the front). It's terrible when a person isn't a clean car freak like us and the wheel is practically black! After a while the wheels get stained.

you get allot of dust during the bedding phase of new brake pads.

Michelin makes a brake dust repellent that I've gotten good results from.
I've been using http://986forum.com/forums/finishkareusa.com #425 and FX100 on the paint and have never noticed so much dust repelling. I have it on the wheels now we'll see how it holds up. I've never seen anything so slick. Its like encapsulating the whole car in rubber. You'll notice it each time you close the door and your fingers just slide over paint.

its a good idea to wax the barrell of the wheel too. cuts down on the cleaning time.

i have a 330i -- i had klassed my rims way back with the oem pads -- still took alot of time to clean 'em -- last summer i did my own pad replacement with mintex redbox pads -- the brake dust went WAY, WAY down -- best diy i ever did -- as i have a newish 987 too, i am still oem on the pads and the weekly brake dust clean takes almost as long as the weekly car wash -- haven't looked in to whether mintex makes a red compatible with the box yet -- maybe i will in 20-30k (but i'm sure y'all will tell me here) -- all this is, as always, fwiw -- brett
