Lightbulb Daylight Running Lights

Hi all,

I have been thinking of fitting a set of daylight running lights to my 986, has anyone here done this and can recommend some (pics are always welcome)

an easy thing to do is use the fog lights as DRLs
Its a 5 min install for the wiring and only costs a couple of $

I also swapped out the H-7 bulbs for LEDs ~ $40 on ebay

If you want to add LED strip DRL, this is a nice package

The Litronics have a marker light. Comes on with parking lights. I just use those. Love the dim lit look of the headlight marker lamps. They stay on with the main headlights to make 2-tone.

I do not. Just search for Litronic Xenon.

New these were $3200 per side after a lady backed into me. You can find them on eBay all day long and many other sites including Pelican.

Note. The 'Litronic' part means there's controls and parts that make the main lights self level. Some are just weighted or balance and are far less. Others will chime in on this.

How are these things wired in Canada, which has mandatory DRLs in all cars? Seems like they must have a simpler fix than fuse taps and jumper wires.

Canadians, can you comment?

Simpler?
Not sure about that... but there is a double size dedicated DRL relay on the relay panel that illuminates all exterior lights while the car is running. The only thing my headlight switch does is turn on the gauge illumination.

My American car now in Canada DRL are the fogs. It was imported through Porsche.I would guess it was done by the dealership that accepted it here.Their not very bright so there must have been a bulb switch as well ?

I see this thread is a little over a year old but I was wondering where you got those LED lights and how hard were they to mount? These look great

Ahead of their time. Current LED's look terrible because they draw attention to themselves. They will be outdated in six months. This understated approach is classic.

I'm curious, too. I think they're CCFLs, but I'd like more info and pics, if possible.

I just ran a jumper wire in the fuse panel (see DRL hack threads) to make my fog lights turn on with the ignition. I swapped out the fog light bulbs for DELs from ebay. Easy, cheap, and effective!
