Covers on the underside

I hear about taking off your cover before doing a job, On my rear I see no cover, just a large triangular (sort of shape) under the engine....am I missing something ??

The metal triangle cover needs to come off for jobs mostly having to do with the transmission, however the much more common covers to remove when doing work is the large rectangular black cover and the long hour glass type shape plastic cover. The rectangular piece sits just infront of the oil pan, covering the main large coolant hoses and it connects to the hourglass shape cover, which covers the cooling pipes that go to the front of the car.

There's a large plastic cover that mounts between rear wheels and under your arse. I'll take a pic. One sec.

I'm glad someone asked this, because I need to replace the covers on my '02.

However, my question is: how many pieces are there?
* Pelican lists 2 linings (a rear and a front center)
* Suncoast lists 1 lining (front only)
* ECS Tuning lists 3 pieces (front, center, and rear)

Any help?

the correct answer is three.

Linings For Underbody
there is another cover on the side, but you don't need to remove it for basic jobs.

the rear one is the one you need to remove.
center one only for fuel filter replacement.
front one for steering/suspension related jobs

I know I'll be replacing all 3, since I'll be driving it in the winter and I'll want to keep as much of the snow/salt/sand out.

From the looks of the diagram, it also looks like I can do the installation myself (tough to DIY the other stuff when you're in an apartment).

Get the mounting parts kits. Nuts, screws, washers, and so on.

Unfortunately, it's a little more than just a crack. One panel is being held on by zip ties on one side, and another panel has a piece broken off of it.

Replacement is the only way to go.
