When someone compliments your car

Do you:

1-Waive back.
2-Nod your head.
3-Say thank you.
4-Ignore them if they look weird/criminal-minded.
5-Ignore them because you believe owe them nothing.
6-solicit a phone number if it's an attractive female.
just be careful it's not one these types

Say thanks. When asked how much, always quote the price when new.

A simple thank you, compliment back if it is of any sporting pedigree. When asked how much I simply quote how much I would sell it for. Not what I got it for haha.

I say thanks, though it hasn't happened yet with the box. I do find myself being looked at more than ever, but possibly because I have the top down regardless of outside temp. No one has said poo to me in person, but it's just a garden variety black on black S model.

I get compliments on my 14 year old bmw occasionally. Mostly from 14 year olds.

But I get compliments every damn time I ride my Triumph motorcycle. Not sure why, since it sold in miserable quantities. But it turns out to be a serious dude (unfortunately) magnet every time it's parked and often in traffic. It is a great bike, but the reactions are curious. My girlfriend rolls her eyes every time someone chats me up over it.

My 68 El Camino SS396 gets lots more comments than the 986 (which gets zero comments- fine with me)

Humps

Always when humps are on everyone breaks their neck looking. Funny thing, my son says car looks better without...seems like the general consensus on the forum as well. Usually nod back, waive, thank you or say how affordable they are, which drives my wife nuts. She says just say thank you

I don't say thanks. I've done nothing to deserve that -- it was the Porsche designers and engineers. So, I just say "I sure do have fun in it!" and leave it at that.

I tell people that I highly recommend them.

Get compliments all the time from all types of folks. The red color helps and I seems to get more compliments with the hardtop on.

I say thanks and wave. I don't waive until I get home to my wife. :-)

I always say "thank you very much, I love it".

People never ask about the price

Twice I've had someone just remark that must be a $100k car!

I tell them list price and what I paid. Very reasonable if you ask me.

There is a huge portion of the population that just thinks they are all Porsche and all worth $100k+.

I say the same thing to all compliments, "That is so nice of you to say that, thank you!"

No one asked the price, but one guy offered to trade. Which got a little awkward, considering he was driving one of those newer BMW 2 seaters. I just said "Maybe when I'm done with it," smiled, and left.

I always say thank you and sometimes add "it's a blast to drive"
Why wouldn't you want to be polite?

my favorite compliment to date:

I was stuck in dead stop highway traffic on a perfect summer day.
Guy who looks just like Samuel L. Jackson pulls up next to me in a nice car.
He turns his head in my direction, looks the car up and down:

"aw hell Yeah! Hell mother F#I@$* yeah!!! Now that's what I'm mother F#@$* talkin' about! .....(short pause)... F#@$* yeah."

how exactly do you respond to that? LOL.
