Stalks for on board computer

Hi,

My 2001 Boxster does not have a stalk for the on board computer on the left side of the steering wheel. I read somewhere that every Boxster comes with a computer and the stalk is an additional option at the time of purchase. Has anyone retrofitted the stalk after the fact? Does anyone know of any article that points to such a modification please?
