I don't think there's much scam to it, just misguided determination to overcome his massive mistake with insurance and driving issues. Then it was only 24mph. Then God comes into it. Bottom line is huge car payment on a totaled car, parents being asked to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic, and with no insurance involvement carfax will not report it. Not fair to the bank or the next owner, but my money says this car never sees the road again under it's own power. |
My life and my gf life were at stake I could have had a bad accident with this and you think it's a scam? Insurance? Takes 1 month to arrive was on cover note wreckers driving I never had an accident before this just American Hollywood I live in Cyprus I had an accident my health is OK I'll fix the car all is well my bad I started this topic no one will stand as a boundary between what I'll do thanks but no thanks

Like I said, I didn't want to offend anyone, but that is a hell of a lot of damage for 40km/h. On top of that, your story changes a bit with every post. You were 30 minutes late with 20 minutes to get to airport, it will cost 2000 to fix, which is your life's savings…but that changes to you have 1000 and will get a loan for 1000 from your mom. Then the damage is 4000 and you would like the people on here to send you some money to fix it. I mention that this sounds fishy and now you AND your gf could have been killed? She was never mentioned before, but ok maybe you just forgot to mention her. Look I had a 944 that I loved but had to get rid of cause there was too much money to put into it. The car was worth less then the repairs. I gave it up and put the money towards my Boxster. I'm not rich and I am sure many on here are not either. I'm sorry for you loss but take the advice and don't put money into that car…it's totaled. Use this as a lesson and insure your next car fully especially if you have a loan. By the way, everyone has it rough these days, so if you have it that rough, maybe you should have waited to buy your dream car. Again, sorry if I sound harsh, just being honest my friend!

Listen to me, my car was recently totaled, you can be sentimental to boxsters but not this specific one. I could have listened to insurance and they would have cheaply fixed my car for 5k rather I fought them to say it was totaled and worth more money, now I am looking to buy a new boxster. It is not worth breaking the bank to keep a specific car on the road, each time a boxster dies, the rarer the breed is in total. I hope you can get another Porsche, and I hope you make a smart financial decision as well.

Chris, if your insurance is on "cover note", it should still be valid and in force even if you don't have the policy yet. I suggest you report the accident to your insurer as soon as possible.

I did but the cover note was third party they won't cover a penny and it's true I had the accident alone also there was water on the turn for those who still want to know details I don't know why it matters like an investigation it was a straight line sped 120 km and then there was a stop lowered to 40km and on the turn there was water so as soon as I turned the car slides hit first pavement spun landed on a road sign by bumping on another pavement my gf told me coz I don't remember this part she said I told her it's OK babe I'll put reverse and we go since the engine was still running and then she goes get down look at the car and realised that tragedy

27k euro bought will cost 2.3 k for spare parts and the reason why I say 4k is because it's labour from 3 people that's why don't know yet the total but the estimation is 4k to fix a car valued here in Cyprus not Hollywood for 27 k engine intact it's not total loss even mathematically this is Cyprus not u.s

It's toast. Plus the parts you listed, you'll need a new hood, new fender(s), new radiators, new condensers, bumper supports. It seems the frunk pan may also be dented inward as well, going off of how bent the bumper rebar is. Plus the left rear quarter panel is wrinkled... you're not going to be able to right this car on the cheap. Not going to happen, unfortunately. Once you start digging deeper you'll find more broken parts.

or ill go with the oem parts I found bit by bit |

, new fender(s), yes found one new radiators, not damaged new condensers, not damaged bumper supports yes found 1 many things found from here: waiting for a quote |
As much as you love the car Chris, I would scrap it & try and source a car from the UK, sell the parts that are salvageable & use towards a replacement , I don't think that car will ever drive straight even after the repairs & you'll never be happy.
Plenty of uk cars over here for £5k 2.7 Boxster ;) Dan |
thanks dan, but found a specialist in UK, that I spoke and he will help me, he said nothing is touched from the chassis, and he is a Porsche sepecialist done those repairs many times, he also said he would be in Cyprus for holidays by chance, and is providing me everything needed.
will give this a try since the cost is just 1650 GBP for all the parts taken from a boxster he has there same model. Suspension Shock Absorber Struts £350.00 ( complete ) 2 Track Control Arms £125.00 4 Front and Rear Steering Knuckles + ABS Sensors £400.00 ( depending on C2 or c4 ) 4 Front and Rear Control Arm £250.00 2 Front Steering tie Rod Outer £125.00 ( think you might be better with complete steering rack ) 1 Front Side Wing Where the petrol is £130.00 If you can also find me the pipe that goes from the petrol it’s a bit smashed inside. £40.00 Bonnet £140.00 Front bumper reinforcer bar £75.00 |
he just answered:
Hi Chris,, Thanks for the pictures and it does make it a lot easier this end now.. looks like you need both front wings,, check both of your headlamps to make sure they have not broken off the fixing lugs ( ask your mechanic to check if your not sure ),,, good news though is that you have not had any movement to the front of the chassis as there is no damage to the windscreen which is a tell tale sign that there has been.. Speak to you on Friday and please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance.. Regards Terry P.S.. could always ship you over the attached Porsche 911 if you can’t wait for your one to be repaired….. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1403529982.jpg |
Well best of luck, with you paying such a premium for the car because of your location, fixing may be okay, still if you can at all try and get compensation for loss of resale value from insurance. And do not forget that you might could even make money if you decided to sell the good parts on your bad car and were to import one from the u.k.
|
Thanks big jake yes thought of it wish me luck next week I'll make the payment let's see how it goes yes Cyprus.. What a good location but small and hard to keep anything except the weather is worth it

It's either a scam (asking people to donate money to you for a totaled car with a BS story)
OR You are simply making a HORRIBLE mistake putting a single penny into that wreck. |
Thanks okc

I hope the Car turns out better, but with that kind of impact many things must get realigned and replaced for it to once again have the famous handling qualities of a Boxster.
It will be interesting to see how it turns out but experience suggests that it will never be quite the same even though it might look good again some day. Odd that a lender would accept Liability insurance only (3rd Party) with an expensive to fix performance car. Thats another lesson, to get enough insurance to cover the loan in an accident. Like all the others said, it might be a better idea to get a Boxster with no engine and transfer the engine/transmission into a good body. Price wise you can get that here in the US for $4000 USD ~ $2000 EU and it might cut your repair costs by a couple thousand or more and you will have a car that still handles like an accident free Boxster. Best of luck to you with the repairs. |
I love my porsche maybe you know what that means but maybe you don't

Hello Everyone, it's been over 5 years. I respect everyone here and would like to come back and ask your opinions.
Happy 25 years! for Boxster It took me over 30K to fix it, why? 1st Mechanic Messed up when I gave him over 15K - 3 years ago. Had to find another - who then fixed it. Fast forward, I have it, now. I did not give up on it, the pressure I had from everyone, to sell it and get another one, is no longer pressure. I paid this money already - after taking the decision that it's sentimental, and could have cost me my life and my GF. But it saved us, and I vowed to fix it. Could have gotten a better car with this money yes? By car I mean Porsche.. coz there is no substitute, coming from a BMW X3 to this, I just cannot let go. Now, since I just finished painting it newly, from cosmetics i still have: Fix the leather chairs - around 300 euro Mechanically: Add the ABS Sensor that I got Add the Heater that I got Wait for my 2 Oxygen sensors to arrive to put them Electrics: Understand after I have run a diagnostics- attached the diagnosis - fix the central alarm and the window mechanism, they don't close well and I must hold the doors push it to close, yes I changed the window mechanism inside, but still, I think it needs to be regulated. Central Alarm, has issues, because, for a long time from when I had the accident, as I drive the lock goes on and off, I cannot lock it with remote and so on. Now, the main issue is this: last 6 months, I had a serious issue no one could fix, including Porsche officials - because they don't have time lol yeah.. believe it or not, so I found a new good mechanic who managed to fix the main issue even after I changed and bought all the parts, he said all this (from the previous mechanic) was bought, but they were not needed. But anyway, it's ok coz now I know they are not the issue and I know they are new. The main issue I had was: When you start the car, till 3000 RPM on startup, it shakes and wants to turn off, when I drive it over 3000 rpm the car was perfect. So from taking the engine down and changing the timing belts, to diagnosis, he finally fixed it for 500 euro. The issue was he said with the Vario Cams, and after bleeding, pressure tests, and tweaking that issue is now long gone and it drives awesomely no issue. Now, after 3 weeks of driving it, 500KM approx, I saw its losing oil, from the car's oil level on the dash, it was losing after few days 1 bar, and it today it was sitting on the bars as u can see from the screenshots, so he said, as long as it's in the middle not below or above the max/min u are ok. I was suspecting it's losing oil until I saw today this - so I called him and he said well he wants to take a look at it. Taking into consideration the things I changed, and now this - what do u think it is? Do u think it's the gaskets? And need this? https://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod127760/ENGINE-GASKET-SET-986-27L-2000-02-162KW---220HP-M9622/ Again the oil cooler? I changed it 6 months ago when I had the milkshake problem and too much bleeding had solved it and didn't drive the car for 6 months as it was sitting in the previous mechanic while I ordered all the stuff u saw, including a new oil cooler. Until I brought it to the new mechanic who finally fixed the previous issue. So what do you think it could be? Thanks, and will keep you posted - I really wish after 5 years of such issues - never giving up, the difficult part is done - that I am close to driving it and enjoying it as it has to be :) Has 140K KM so far, its 2.7 02 Boxster 986 Looking forward to your experience and advice to know what to expect. I will take it today at lunchtime and wait for his feedback.
