Replaced ignition switch now box won't start

My climate control wasn't coming on and read in some threads that it could be the ignition switch. I had ordered one from before but never put it in. Thought I was lucky I had one when I actually needed it.

Replaced the part and now the car won't turn over. The climate control comes on but now the radio doesn't. I've checked the fuses in the drivers kick panel and all look fine.

I put the old ignition switch back in and it still won't start. I'm kinda stumped. I'll go get another switch locally and try it.

Any suggestions?

thanks for your help.

Looks like my starter is hooped. I replaced the ignition switch and my climate control is intermittent. I'm pretty sure the likelihood of a faulty new ignition switch is small so I'll have to do a little more digging.

It was the first thing I did was charge the battery. It's pretty strong and was full when I couldn't start the car. I did the bang the starter and it started right after. I can't have a mallet in the trunk forever so I'm looking for a new starter or rebuilt one.
