Cool Another Successful Oil Change

Today was a good Porsche day.

I went to my dad's garage to change the oil on my '04 (as I still don't have a jack or stands in my garage), and also take care of my mom's '06 since I was there.

What's so good about it?

Both oil filters came back CLEAN after thorough inspection - no debris of any sort. Her car has 40.3k on it and mine has 100.1k. Feels good.

Refilled both cars with a good synthetic (as well as a ZDDP additive), and OE filters. Now I just need to get mine washed...

Indeed. Now just to drive mine more often. And fix the radio amplifier in hers.

Both have been using Mobil 1 10w40 with Rislone ZDDP additive. She's only put 14k on her car, I've added 33k to mine. This change we went with Castrol Syntec 0w40 with the ZDDP additive.

I have two large (12 or 15qt, can't remember) transport containers.

Time for a new tech then. Oil filter debris is a very real tell tale sign of potential trouble. Of course it depends on how much debris there is, and what type of debris it is. I would not trust any mechanic who told me that filter bebris is not significant. It would make me wonder whether he has ignored it in apst oil changes.
