Anyone By Pass the AC compressor

Certainly would be an advantage with one less component to have to drive.
I did it to my daughter's jeep because the clutch went bad and I needed to drive it 90 miles home from her school so I could fix it.
So I'm thinking the boxster looks like an easy by pass. Other than losing the defroster, is there any reason why putting on a smaller belt, taking AC compressor out of the loop, for those times of the year when no AC is going to be used or track days?

Doesn't seem like it will hit anything but you have to confirm. Other than that, it's just another car. Remember, Porsche is just another car, not a rocket; the Germans just made it a lil tougher to work on.

I removed the AC compressor and everything associated with it. No problems, and 40 or so lbs lighter.

Could you share the part number of the belt or the car that uses it?

I dont use AC and where i live there is no need for this.

Check w/ RockAuto.com. They have belt w/ and w/o AC. I have done this before on another car; although it didn't quite work but it gave me a very good reference regarding the dimension.

AC is too nice to have. Pull the spare out if the weight is that important of an issue.
