Interesting (?) Tail Light Idea - eBay
Came across this eBay ad... Porsche Boxster 986 LED Taillights Custom 97 04 | eBay
I like the idea, though the workmanship here is pretty shoddy (I wouldn't pay $100 for this electric taped mess).
I know the purists will demand nothing more than stock amber tail lights, but thought some might find this idea interesting. I plan to do something similar in the future, except mine will actually look good up close.

Looks pretty cool, I like the idea as well. But as you said, it's a bit over priced.
And a tip to the seller on ebay: Remove that rear wing. Damn..

Yes, that's a go for me. Its beautiful... taped or not. Knowing your skills already, surely you can do something ten times better if you put yourself at it.
I know a lot of people who would like to have something different than those 1970's style taillights on their 996 for instance, possibly the 986s as well but not as many as the 911 guys out there
Nice find Charles

Looks like a pretty rough prototype but a nice idea. I am pretty happy with my DEPO LED'S, for now I am looking forward to what you come up with Charles

reminds me of the 981 while holding onto our cars smoother curves. I was at the dealer last night though and i have to say the rear fender and how it swoops on the 981 cayman is one of the best sights in the world.

I like the concept, think the lights flow with the lines of the car. Way nicer than the Depos, if done properly.

well the 987 Gen I now have aftermarket taillights that mimic that too with the LED that hugs the outside border of the light. (google them)
I wonder how hard it is to swap the internals into the housing of a 986 taillight...probably will take cutting and gluing but I think it can be done since both lights have the most similar shapes.

I just got through with this but I guess someone took the idea already.

Geez, you been on vacation or what?
Those are hot. Did you use some king of light tape? I don't want to use individual LEDs because I want a seamless bar of light like yours.
I see you've been reading my mind again...I also want to turn the spoiler into a red running light bar that still operates as the spoiler, similar to your pic, but actually use a clear red tinted plastic to make a new lighted spoiler.

Lol, I wish. I just got so sucked into work it was ridiculous. But I'm back now and I actually have a nice surprise to show everyone.
