Apnewsbreak: Speed to blame for paul walker crash

Investigators: Unsafe speed caused Walker crash

All this sounds completely plausible to me. Nine year old tires? Not good.

It reads to me that no party involved in this incident did anything wrong. And please.............don't harp on the "doing 90 in a 45" BS.

With everyone being absolved, perhaps this unfortunate "accident" (a term that doesn't seem to exist anymore in today's litigious climate), was the result of "maintenance negligence".

Just sayin'..............

Gee what a surprise.

Who would be cheap and/or forgetful about tires on such a hi-po car. 9 year old tires! I would not let my daughter in her Honda Accord drive around with such tired tires let only on a car like that. Shame as you would think money should not have been an issue.

When I read the link, it says that the cause is unsafe speed. I didn't see anything about tires?

It mentioned that the car had 9 year old tires. There wasn't a blow out but, at a fairly low speed for a car of its caliber in skilled hands it likely would not have crashed if it wasn't for brittle old tires.

Only the left front and right rear tires were 9 years old....two tires on the diagonal. Why would the other tires be newer? On a car like that you would expect to change tires at least both on front or rear.

Entirely user error. Unfortunate but that's what it is. Old tires and 90 in a 45, no bueno.

Not surprised in the least.

AP: Thank you Capt Obvious

9 yr old tires + 90mph speeds on cold tires = fatal disaster

Hopefully Porsche was not leading the investigation. The cynic in me would question the results. However, it's not hard to figure this one out.

Sadly, simply driver error.
