:)
But still a de tuned 3.4

stephen wilson 03-19-2014 03:18 AM

Yeah, but at least it's only down 10 HP vs. the 911/3.4.

Pretty nice. Hope my 2002 can last for 15 more years so I can afford to buy a GTS

Disappointed that Porsche continues to play the same old hierarchy game. :(

Porsche should have offered a 350hp Cayman GTS and priced it equal to the 991 base. Same HP, same price, and the customer can pick where they want the engine.

JAAY 03-19-2014 05:45 AM

Those are cute. Porsche sucks. Get some balls and put the same motor that is offered in the Carreras. They never should have made the Boxster. All they do is hold it back. It is a much better platform than than any carrera. Sorry for my rant. :)

NICE!, is Porsche monitoring these forums to get their ideas.

The enthusiasts want a 3.4 - 3.6 light weight Boxster with 300 hp+ and a Turbo version as well.

When my engine dies I'll buy a 3.4 and perhaps a body kit and I'll have the same thing or in I'll upgrade to a 10 year old GTS way down the road.

JAAY and STONE are right, stop holding the Boxster back and let it be all it can be.

So what if you have 2 equally expensive cars for consumers to choose from, they are both great cars in their own right, so let the consumers choose mid or rear engine
and make the Boxster the same price as the 911.

j.fro 03-19-2014 11:14 AM

Yeah, the P-car higher-ups baffle me. They've done the research and recognized that 911 buyers aren't Boxster/Cayman buyers regardless of HP. Since there's no market overlap, there's no danger of a 98X car with equal (dare I say greater) HP to a 99X model- especially if it's a GTS or other performance package.
Oh well, at least it gives us room to mod!

JAAY 03-19-2014 11:39 AM

Another member said this a while back but it is how I feel. "They didn't make the porsche I wanted so I made it myself" This is why I have a 3.4 in my car. It is not the fastest thing around but is the way it should have been offered in 1999 wearing the Porsche logo.

But they still don't have a 4.2... But we do :-)

thstone 03-19-2014 02:25 PM

Damn, it should make more than that at the rear wheels. :-)

so basically you are getting some flash and basically an "option package" i did see that torque vectoring is an option... which would definitely push a boxster quicker around a track than an un optioned C2.

Agreed. Only thing is, if they put that engine in a Boxster/Cayman, who would want a 911? Give the customers a choice. Had a conversation with someone just yesterday on this. smh
