Sunny in seattle
2004/base/73kmiles...finally got around to check the belt. No screws, plastic fasteners, nothing.I just pulled up carpet from bottom, heled up with nogen, undid screws. Belt looked brand new. 10 mins/max. Some condensation under carpet, but in Seattle after all. (Normal)??? Yanked, pulled on all pulley's, all seemed good, no slop. No records after purchase in September, so pretty stoked that all is well, thus far......butten it up, cruzed Alki strip to warm up......hit I5.....6k, couple times. Home for bed. Good times.

Did you remove the belt before you "yanked and pulled on the pulley's" ??
You won't feel slop normally on sealed ball bearings (unless the bearing if literally falling apart), but if you spin them unloaded - ie with the belt removed - you may hear them rattle and the balls feel gritty as they roll over the pitted surface of the race. You will find play on a worn water pump bearing, but again you will have to remove the belt to make certain. |
Many thanks Steve. I will check again this weekend, to be safe.

Took the "S" out yesterday too. It was 61º in Seattle and sunny, a heat wave for this time of the year. Been so long since I drove the P-car, I had to re-learn the clutch.
Supposed to rain tonight though, back to normal. At least it isn't a drought or snow. |

We need to have a Seattle Boxster Sunny Day get together.

Spent two weeks in the Burlington / Mt Vernon / Sedro Woolley area. Skaggit county. Too beautiful to describe. I could easily live there. Chance of rain every day.

Sounds fun Tucker2
