The red lends to a more recessed look to the headlight...and I've seen this look before, but I couldn't remember on what car (which was frustrating me to no end). I thought it was the old Fiat spider, but then I realized it was the Datsun 280z.

No opinion (and no offense intended), but if you like the look of the Datsun, go for it. Personally, I prefer the OEM.

On a side note, you should win some sort of award for the most passion/time spent on your (relatively) new car. Regarding the headlight...either way you decide, I'm sure you've enjoyed every minute. And that's what's really important.

This is what I'm going to go with. The lower parts are painted now, took out the amber inside lens and I've solved the corner piece problem. Its clear now with red behind it. Starting on the lens today.

This is just my opinion. I really dislike only the oval part painted. I'm also not a fan of just the upper painted like in your first picture. I think I need to see angles of the light when you get done putting it back together. Thank you for posting this. I had also thought about painting the inside body color.

I agree, all of the interior parts need to be painted. You are getting closer! Once the lens is polished, I think it will make a big difference

No, old pic. It's not done yet. Its just laying in the bottom piece in this pic. Going to put it back together and restore the outside when i do the headlight. Oh and add the small silver stripe

I have a question for you or anyone that knows. I separated this headlight with a heat gun because I have Xenon HL and was afraid id ruin it. Do you or anyone else know if the oven woukd be OK with Xenons? The heat gun method is a real pain.

Thanks

Not plastidip this time. Just redid the headlight, curing. Here's the corner piece separated, painted and restored. 😀

Yes, Litronics use xenon bulbs. What do you have?

Never mind, I'm faster than you with my 'Digi-Dip'

Below is what I meant... silver trim gone red hot. So so?
