Come On Spring

18" of snow due today. Starting to get cabin fever :(

Boxster is hiding under the covers being shielded from the elements.

No comments on the cover please. All the cash went into the Pcar.

SeanZ4 02-13-2014 07:15 AM

We had it last week, about a foot. My brother lives in DC and he and his wife are both home today. On another note I have a friend in ATL and she's posting pics on fb of "being home for the third snow day". It's awful! I can see her driveway through the "misting" of snow. I know they're not used to it but come on!?!?

BIGJake111 02-13-2014 07:54 AM

My cover is a 15 dollar tarp from Costco haha, we only had 6 or so inches but that's enough to cancel school from Tuesday to the weekend. Serious cabin fever over here.

We didn't get too much but no one down here has ever heard of snow tires haha. Mother had to have the Camry pulled up the driveway by my fathers truck

Mark_T 02-13-2014 10:18 AM

The girl on the weather channel said she was expecting to see eight inches tonite. I assume she meant snow.

Porsche9 02-13-2014 10:21 AM

Spring is here.

We are expecting friggin record highs. Crazy weather in the US this year. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1392319271.jpg

Pillow is at the other end and the bed sheets are 800 thread count. :p

However willing to accept donations to upgrade to something more to your liking.

sorry saving up for a snow-blower.

I'm using the OEM outdoor cover. $200 on Ebay. Fits tight as a snare drum.

Spot the snowman!

Jamesp 02-13-2014 01:49 PM

What's all that white stuff laying around? Doesn't it get in the car when you drive with the top down?

BIGJake111 02-13-2014 01:52 PM

the car has been garaged through all of this... shoveled the drive just to take it into the neighborhood for some pics, once done... she returned to slumber in the garage.

I'm interested to know what snowblowers people are running in various parts of the continent.

Mine is a Yardworks 8 hp 28", dual stage, with 6 forward speeds and 2 reverse. It is adequate most of the time, although it does struggle with packed drifts once they get deeper than about 3'. I'm going to fit it with drift cutters and tire chains to see if that helps. I think the chains will make all the difference as traction does seem to be the main issue in the heavy stuff.

Waiting for another 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the current round of snow to stop so I can go out and fire up the Snowblower. 3 car side entrance driveway and several hundred feet worth of private drive to contend with, I'm set back in the woods so the depth isn't usually too bad. My daughter's boyfriend is here tonight since it's Valentines Day, thinking about putting the lad to work ;). The back entrance to my office:

After my softball game today it was so nice I put the top down for the drive home. I left my sunglasses in my other car, oh, thought I was gonna die!

Jager 02-14-2014 04:50 PM

Man, you guys are writing about snow blowers and I got all sweaty mowing my yards today. Just imagine if we had to shovel or use scissors to maintain the yards:eek:. Afterwards took the wife out to lunch and then to the beach, in the Jägermobile of course.

Hey Jake,

Why don't you just throw salt in our wounds?

Snow tonight, Tuesday & Wednesday.

tomonomics 02-23-2014 04:06 PM

Warmed up to 55 today, so I figured I'd exercise the top/motors/etc. More snow and cold coming east this week, but thankfully I'll be in Vegas.

Thursday I was very happy to drive to work. Roads had that glazed feel to them so I had to be careful in the AM but the PM ride home was nice
The pot holes around here are a whole different thing.

Perfectlap 02-23-2014 06:23 PM

Tomonomics, you know that front license plate is actually optional right?

I haven't had a front license plate on a car in NJ since Bill Clinton was President.
99% of time they don't even bother to write the ticket and if they do write at ticket,
it's better than having the Staties use it to zap me with the lazer on the Parkway.
As a matter of fact I got a ticket on the Parkway recently (warning with a fine) and they didn't even look at the front of the car.

Ckrikos 02-23-2014 06:29 PM

I got one front license plate ticket while living in ny out in Nassau county. $100 for 14 years with no front plate.

tomonomics 02-24-2014 04:04 AM

P-Lap, I agree it's not a big deal most of the time, as I had no front tag on my Miata for 10 years and only received one warning. However, after getting two tickets at $100 each during the first ~five months in the Boxster, I decided it was no longer 'optional'. Sometimes it just comes down to the town you're in, the car you're in, and how Johnny Law feels that day.

I put it back on for inspection, and mounted it low and recessed into the front spoiler so I don't even see it when I walk around the car. It's been there ever since and doesn't bother me anymore. While I prefer the look without it, I choose to keep a low profile and not draw attention in that regard.
