Not a huge fan of either, but Prince and John Mayer are some more recent guys that are amazingly talented.

Top 5 favorite guitarists
Sorry - have to expand the greatest guitar list a bit. In no particular order
1. Eric Clapton
2. Jimmy Page
3. Jimi Hendrix / Stevie Ray Vaughn
4. David Gilmour
5. Keith Richards
6. Pete Townsend
7. Lee Ritenour
8. George Benson
9. Joe Perry
10. Carlos Santana
Every one of these guys is brilliant, and almost all have a uniquely different style. There are a lot of other greats, but this list sums it up for me...

Many honorable mentions....BUT, Hendrix bar none. Listen to the tapes, the guy was otherworldly.

I grew up in the sixties and seventies...have many guitar heroes; from Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Townshend, the list goes on (too many too list).
Check out Joe Bonamassa and Tommy Emmanuel on YouTube for some incredible guitarists.
I've seen both in concert and they are amazing...SRV will always be on my top list.

SRV is on a lot of lists! Great player. I remember hearing he died.
I saw Jimmy R V and the Fabulous T-Birds and had 2nd row. That man can play. They opened for REO. What a show.
Also saw Rush twice now. One of my all time favs. Thanks, Canada!
JethroTull was a very great show. Barre is an awesome player.
Knopfler and Chet Atkins did a duet tape many years back. Great music.
Saw Eddie. Plays fast, great player, but loud and fast gets old.
