enterprise, northwest territories, canada. about -36 degrees celsius (which is, for all intents and purposes, about -36 degrees fahrenheit). i'd traveled there from nearby fort smith, nwt (in northern terms, nearby is a 3 hour drive) on a mission to see if the waterfall ice on the hay river had formed up yet and perhaps do some ice climbing, only to see this:

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1386971802.jpg

fourteen cayennes, panamaras and macans, all blacked out, loaded with germans in full Porsche regalia, heading to Yellowknife in a search for -40. they'd broken one macan already. oddly enough, their support vehicle was a suburban.

Hummm, mine was reading -3F yesterday. It was really hard to start. Drove 15 minutes, stop for 30 minutes, then it did not start :( dead battery. Charge it just enought to start and head back home. I dont know how old is the battery but at least 3 years, so I guest it's time to change it because winter is just starting :)

Have charge it all night and I need to drive 30 minutes tomorow to go skiing, I should be fine

Later all
Chris

Here is the temp yesterday morning in LA! 31 Friggin' D-grees. We're not made for this.

Of course, its supposed to get back to 80F this weekend. :)

Sorry to rub it in. 82 F on the outside temp gauge, had to use the AC during the day, but after the sun set, top down heaven!

Awesome! Love the homemade ice tires. When I was a kid I used to drive my go kart on a frozen lake near my house, good fun! But cold!

Last930 12-14-2013 11:45 AM

That a Rotax? My kids race Leopard and kt100 yamaha.

Kenny Boxster 12-14-2013 12:03 PM

Bfan, that looks like a blast. Karts are great fun. As for me, I honestly don't think my boxster has ever seen negative temperatures in it's life before.

Bfan 12-14-2013 05:26 PM

Yes it is a Rotax, I only started carting last spring as a way to become a better track driver in a "cheap" way. But I found out it is even more fun than the Boxster with lots of adrenalin and close racing, fighting and pushing. The flip side is that these two strokes involve at least four hours of maintenance work for each hour on the track. But its such a blast that you do it gladly.

I've got your winter right here, buddy :-)

This is getting ridiculous. Got up this morning, the temp was -35C, -49 with the wind chill.

Winnipeg is colder than Mars: Yahoo News Canada - Latest News & Headlines

recycledsixtie 01-05-2014 08:44 AM

We are almost as cold as you Mark : -32C which is about -25F and lots of snow.
Supposed to be -6C tomorrow.....http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1388943762.jpg

You guys really should consider moving south! Here is me (in front, of course) and Little "t" at WSIR last Sunday - 78F, clear, and sunny!

Did someone mention snow? Then temps dropped to minus 19F...

Mark_T 01-13-2014 04:06 PM

Ooooo, 19... how do you survive such frigid temperatures? :D

woodsman 01-13-2014 04:33 PM

I'll be driving Baby all week as it's going to be 7- 10 C and no rain! Then she's going into storage for a few months.

Joe B 01-13-2014 04:35 PM

I don't get it. Do all you people in LA really want those of us who live where it snows to move there ? Don't you have enough people there already?! And did it ever occur to you California and Florida folks that many of us actually like living in climates with 4 seasons and snow? I've skied 6 times in the last 7 days within a 15 minute drive (in the Boxster of course :p) of my house! And in the summer I have hiking, climbing, motorcycle riding, mountain and road biking, fishing, kayaking, rafting, sailing, and of course great twisty traffic-free Boxster roads within 5 minutes of my front door. And no, it's not -20° F here all winter . So please let us brag about how hardy we think we are when it gets cold without feeling too sorry for us;).

P.S. I'd insert a picture of Boxy in my snowy driveway but I didn't take one yet.

Rarely real windy here. Too many mountains blocking it.

Yeah, it was 80 degrees here today... This winter has been a tough one.

Kenny Boxster 01-13-2014 08:41 PM

Had one bad week of ice, now it's just a matter of when can we put the top down? :)

It was 41 yesterday. 40 is my lower limit for top down. So today I may have it down. Pics if so!

I used to live in the the snowy north and after 13 years in SoCal I kinda miss it a bit, except for that frigid to the bone feeling which I now get when its in the 50's around here :p

I'd like to request some Pics of Boxsters in a fresh dusting of snow under a full moon.

Theres something magical about fresh snow at night and think that adding a Boxster to that scene with some natural moon beam lighting could only enhance the magic.

OMG, you didnt use a broom or worse to get the snow off the car did you?.....scratches...

You'd have to use a leaf blower to get the snow off the car I think.

I've lived in Phoenix and San Diego over the years...no thank you! I like things like cold and snow and actual changing seasons.

80 degrees in "winter" and a living hell in summer? I'll pass. Those guys can keep it :D
