I put the stripes on my 986 myself. I had the kit which is a waste. I learned that all you have to do is put a little dish soap in a spray bottle of water and really soak the surface where you intend to put the vinyl strips. To get the stripe with a correct gap between the two stripes I put down 1 inch wide blue tape down the center of the car. When you have it in the right place you squeegee the water out and stripe is stuck.

It turned out to be real easy once I figured it out. You don't need much dish soap and you can't overdue how much of the solution you put on the car.

$22 p;us $6 for shipping and try the silver for a ghost stripe.

Here's a place that is even cheaper and you can specify more colors and sizes.

Vinyl Viper Stripes Any Size or Color Fits Any Car | eBay

Give it a try and if you don't like the stripes they will come right off.
