Question Audio Dilemma

Yes, another audio thread.

This won't work: Today I tried installing a Parrot hands-free kit in my MY99. I have the stereo removal keys, DIN cable, and all the installation manuals. Unfortunately, I also have the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) option M680. With it, the CR-22 head unit uses line-out connectors to the amplifier and there is no way to connect the Parrot.

So, my dilemma...

* Do I splice the speaker cables coming out of my amp and connect the Parrot there?

* Do I suck it up and just use the CR-22 (CR-220 for you US guys) with a line-in jack?

* Or do I go all-out and replace the head unit, the amp, delete the DSP, upgrade all 6 speakers, and enjoy the best sound that ever came out of a Boxster? Engine sound excluded.

One too many threads on this topic?

What I'm really asking, is whether changing the entire audio setup is:
A) a lot of work, especially with the cabling
B) worth it when it comes to resale value

A) no
B) not sure

i replaced the entire system. got a Single DIN Sony headunit with bluetooth ... so has app remote & handsfree calling (came with all the parts). the unit was only 110 USD. it has a great equalizer & sound field controls too!

Massive audio 4 channel amp ... similar size to the OEM amp.

rainbow speakers & tweeters

- now it sounds great

A) no
B) it should, but I don't think it will.

OK, thanks. That's somewhat reassuring.

What head unit would you go for to keep at least a semi-stock look?
What amp(s) would you recommend to fit in place of the 6x40 amp?

I recommend the Pioneer DEH 80PRS. Awesome head unit, built in sound processing (Time alignment and EQ), very good DAC.

About the amp, I went with a Pioneer GM-D8604 (4 ch, class D). I like it, but I understand there are better options.
