There's something in the manual that I find confusing.

When it says the top is low beam and the bottom high beam. High beam as in the beam you use after dark or high beam when you flash someone?

Both. They are the same thing.

Low beam bulbs are on top in the reflector. High beams are actually both top and bottom bulbs on at the same time. The reflectors flip the light beam upside down like a lens, which is why they're reversed.
