100k club, check in!!

128,500 or so. Runs great. Not one bit worried about mileage, daily driver.

Will do shift lever leak, clutch, IMS this winter, then we're in top shape.

Who else ain't so bothered by mileage??

cas951 09-21-2013 07:45 AM

My 2002 S at 165k. IMS changed at 145k. Had no signs of wear.

seawind 09-21-2013 07:55 AM

133,000+ miles. Purchased 3 months ago, already put over 7,000 glorious miles on her. I take the long way to work each day now, with extended weekend trips.

Two oil changes : first found small brown nodules in filter, less then 1mm in size, and 1 very thin sliver of metal. My specialist said brown nodules are normal and from timing chain guide, and the sliver if metal is aluminum, so not the IMS. Second change filter looked much better; keeping them at 3000 miles. Changed transmission oil, which was a beautiful metalflake gold color; just something you hate seeing in a car however. Probably never changed, and a definite improvement. Still need to do all the basic's of plugs, brake fluid and coolant flush, other filters. Drives magnificent!

Hope to get to 150,000 miles by next summer!

heliguy 09-21-2013 08:07 AM

106,000 miles. 2003 S. On my third water pump, second fuel pump and replaced both window regulators at different times. Other than that, no issues. I am in my fifth year of ownership and it is my daily driver.

105k miles, bought with 97k miles, owned since Feb 2013. All I have had to do so far is regular maintenance and rear tires. Planing IMS Retrofit, some exhaust mods and suspension pkg..

RawleyD 09-21-2013 09:58 AM

132k, bought with 131k.

These last 1k have been bliss! lol

FLAT64EVER 09-21-2013 11:22 AM

01 only has 35K ....the 02 track car 142K ...no IMS ....... when I do a clutch or freshen the engine I will take care of that while I'm at it

Goodbiketime 09-21-2013 06:13 PM

104,000 on 1998 IMS guardian installed. No metal in the filter yet. Lots of little things fixed, rather routine with the exception of CLU! We drive it pretty hard.

Bryan topping 09-21-2013 06:18 PM

131K on my 2001 Base, bought it with 114k in Feb 2012. Mostly routine stuff, starter, AOS, tires, front suspension refresh. Oh & replaced the old faded tan top with a new black one.

Deserion 09-21-2013 06:27 PM

Well, I'll be in the club in about 3700 miles. :)

2000S with 108k. It had 103k when I bought it in December. I love it! I had the ln double row bearing put in and previous and owner took really good care and fixed all the stuff like aos, maf, ignition switch, and new clutch. I'm loving it!
Steve

Edit to provide additional information. I have service records going back around 50,000 miles.

103,000
======
LN Engineering double row IMS bearing retrofit

100,896
======
Bank 1 precat oxygen sensor replaced
Replaced fuel and oil caps due to cracked seals

97,637
===============
Clutch replaced, clutch assembly disk, pressure plate, and throwout bearing
Ignition switch replaced
Parking brake switch replaced (top not working)
AOS Replaced
RMS Seal replaced
IMS Seal replaced

Sometime within the last 20,000 miles (I don't have that one in front of me)
Front engine mount replaced

When I find that folder I will update here with more info, there is also some regular maintenance like spark plugs.

I do not have a record of the water pump ever being replaced.

Had the car since 2006. Previous owner drove long distance a lot. It was daily driven for me but hardly any traffic. My son has it now and daily driven but only 10 miles each way.

2001S with 160k. Bought it 7 years ago with 40k and have driven it every day since.

As far as I know it still has the original clutch!

No IMS change
Water pump changed at 140k and again at 150k due to failures.

Oh, no.

Born / raised in Antioch. Moved here in 1991.

Could never imagine moving back. Altitude, no humidity, fly fishing, mountains, snow, and I couldn't own half of my guns there. It was much different in the 70's and 80's when I was there. At least Bart finally made it that far!!

runjmc2 09-23-2013 08:49 AM

104K on my '97. Owned for nearly a year. Original IMS. Only maintenance has been tires, engine and manual tran oil. Brakes, plugs, and coil packs next. Original AOS, fingers crossed... Daily driver, hoping to get to 150K...

HAUSIDMT 09-23-2013 08:52 AM

80K miles or 129K km, to date, running strong and loving every minute of it.

Perfectlap 09-23-2013 09:08 AM

not my thread but if possible please include whether original water pump, AOS and IMS are still in.
All of these can fry an engine. I'm curious which cars made it to 100K on all original stuff.

BrandonJames89 09-23-2013 10:28 AM

1998 Tip at 114,500 with original water pump, IMS and AOS. Just has all the minor maintenance items replaced with the engine. Spark plugs, air filter, serpentine belt, fuel filter, MAF sensor and oil filter as well as the transmission fluid have all been changed.

Yes, I've had it in Orlando just under 2 years and the previous owner and his dad who owned it before him live near Vero beach on the east coast of Central FL.

Many other items have been replaced to keep it looking like new but as far as the engine that was all.

Gaah glass window top, depo tail lights, litronic headlights, 2 headlight switches, seats reupholstered, passenger air vent, visor mirrors and housings, dash and door speakers, floor matts, led smoked third brake light, fuel cap, coolant cap, front drop links and a control arm, repaired the rear control arms, drivers side seat belt sensor, air bag retention frame, wheels and tires, radio with bluetooth/hands free and aux jack, mesh intake grills, LED lights for interior/trunks/license plate, rotors and pads etc...

hancock1701 09-23-2013 10:56 AM

2001 Base, 127k miles. Bought 2 months ago from brother-in-law, but I have seen the car since he got it at 80k miles in 09.

As far as I know, the car still definitely the original bearing, and possible the original water pump.

What he got done when he bought it at 80k:
  • spark plugs
  • new clutch and flywheel
  • cam cover leak fixed
  • new tires

What I did when I got the car at 123k:
  • Trasmission fluid
  • AOS
  • throttle body cleaning
  • MAF cleaning
  • CV axle boots replacement

The car has P0410 and P1411 codes, otherwise, running great, but will need water pump, front motor mount, tune-up, control arms very very soon.

Timco 09-23-2013 11:32 AM

Mine has orig IMS, I changed AOS, orig WP. I changed starter, bearings.

Bulldog 09-23-2013 11:32 AM

I have a '99 with 124k Silver Base.
This car SINGS!!!!!! :-)
I will need to replace the top before too long.
Small crack in the plastic rear window, about 3/4" long.
has a few dings, and the steering wheel leather is cracked. but it looks good,
and it SINGS! :-)

MN 986 09-24-2013 11:15 AM

Bought my 2002 in 2006 with 45k from the original owner who kept it in excellent condition. It now has 107k on the original IMS and water pump, but I replaced the AOS last year. I drive it top down in Minnesota from late March/April to November (depending on snow) and am enjoying every mile!

Deserion 04-17-2014 04:42 AM

Just a quick update. As of 4/11/14, my '04 base has 100k miles. ;) As far as I'm aware, the water pump, AOS, and IMS are original though the clutch was changed not long before I bought it in 2010 (bought w/ 67k).

Slated to change the spark plugs, water pump, thermostat, coolant, serp. belt, brake fluid, and oil/filter in the next month.

RandallNeighbour 04-17-2014 07:09 AM

115k now (I think!)

The only things original to the car are 75% of the body panels and the frame and the floor carpeting and dashboard.

Seriously.

thstone 04-17-2014 07:25 AM

135,000 miles on the Boxster with 85 track days. Original IMS bearing.
132,000 miles on the 996. Daily driver. Original IMS bearing.

seningen 04-17-2014 07:57 AM

102.5K 00 S -- at least 500 track miles since purchase

Bought with 100.5K

Looks to have a new WP. No idea on other mechanicals.

I've added deep sump kit, baffle kit, under drive pulley, KW sport coil-overs, Tarret mono ball strut supports and camber plates, rear drop links, M030 sway bars, rebuilt half shafts and wheel bearings. Adding spin on oil filter adapter, oil temp and oil pressure senders -- gauges not installed yet.

She's gone from a garage queen to a track mistress -- I think she's actually happier :-)

Mike

Dragonwind 04-17-2014 09:28 AM

135k and counting. Bought with 48k in 2007. No track miles but I do drive it spiritedly all the time.

Jamesp 04-17-2014 11:19 AM

121k. Bought it with 120k and a failed IMSB. Failed parts replaced:
AOS (failed)
IMSB (failed)
IMS
Main, thrust, and rod bearings
Left radiator
Heater core
Clutch fork pivot
All the seals including the valve seals
Plugs
Rod. Bolts
Wrist pin c clips
Likely more I've forgotten

G051999 04-17-2014 11:31 AM
