OBC 4th Stalk Question

Hello All,

I just have question about the OBC hack. I have purchased the forth stalk on ebay. I paid 70 dollars shipped. I was looking on the pelican parts website and they show a wiring harness that needs to be made for this hack to work.

My question is with this stalk i bought, is it a plug and play or do i still need a wiring harness made. Is the harness they are talking about just for the poor man solution.

Thanks.

You can add this stalk to your existing assembly but from there on the OBC upgrade will be the same. So yes, you will need to construct the wiring harness.

BTW, I did this upgrade on my 01, pins into the cluster needed serious pressure but everything works as it should!

Hey, wait a sec... I was under the impression from reading the 101 Projects book that the whole stalk assembly needed to be replaced with one that has the 4th stalk (assuming one already has OBC.) So you can just add the missing stalk alone? OK!

Does adding just the 4th stalk also require steering wheel removal as with replacing the whole turn signal switch assembly?

Yes, you can add the stalk if you can find one.
Otherwise, the process is the same.

This was done with the help of another forum member. It works perfectly. You are correct. We needed to create the wiring harness anyways. Only thing that didn't work was the speed alarm. I was told that my cluster probably doesn't contain the speaker for it. I couldn't careless if i had that functionality or not. Here is a picture of my car taken apart.

Of course you have to use duct tape - LMAO - it does work well to keep that clockspring from jumpin out on ya :-)
By the way good find on the single stalk mod, I've only done the complete quad assembly mod... so this is much much cheaper :-)

Anyway, the speed gong is just annoying. I inadvertently set mine at 37 km/hr. Drove me f'ing bananas until i figured out how to cancel it!
