Clutch Slippage?/Check Engine Light - Related?

So I bought a 2009 987 about 4 months ago. In that time I've put 4K miles on it, so now it has 32K miles.

I've noticed lately that it seems a little sluggish during harder acceleration, but I'm not sure if this is clutch slippage, as I've never had car that had clutch problems. Today I wondered if I was imagining it, so I decided to do a quick acceleration from a stop through 3rd gear. Shifting into 2nd, it seemed sluggish again, and my CEL came on during the acceleration.

How screwed am I? Does this sound like anything specific to any of you?

sounds like bad maf, or associated vacuum, air/fuel, o2, etc. not too screwed - let the code be your guide.

+1 on using the CEL to determine what might be the issue. Did it misfire or just accelerate slowly? Engine rev up with the car not accelerating?

Thanks for the quick replies. I wouldn't say the engine revs out of control with no acceleration, but it sounds labored with slower acceleration. Hard to describe but I was curious if it could be early clutch slippage just beginning or is that way out of the park to assume?

I'll get the code read next week and report back also.

Clutch slip is audible. Rrrrrrrrrrr at takeoff if you take off too hard. You'll hear it. Not related.

+1. If the clutch were slipping you would hear the engine rev up. SO, most likely not clutch related.

Could be lots of potential other issues though. Best suggestion is get the codes as that will give you an idea where to start looking.

Well, in a last ditch effort before taking her into the shop, I removed and rescrewed the oil cap in the trunk (remembering that I had added 1/2 a quart the week before) and voila!

Two starts later, the CEL extinguished. Must have been the vacuum leak.
