These pictures are from the Yellowstone East Entrance road/ USH 14-16-20 to Cody, WY. My daughter took these, mostly from inside the car. I think it's neat that she got some part of the car into almost every shot.

First night in Cody, we stayed at the Skyline Motor Inn. You can see the brake dust is building up on the front wheels. Almost 3,500 miles logged, and the most challenging roads await us.

Monday June 3. I planned this day specifically for these two highways. AWESOME!!!! If you ever have a chance to get in this part of the country, a day driving this cannot be missed. I would, however, recommend you do this between late June and late September. You'll see why our timing made the drive rather harrowing.

This continues from the first part of Monday, June 3 drive on Chief Joseph Highway. We are now going on the Beartooth highway, which is even more AWESOME than Chief Joseph.

This is what it looks like from above:

It's getting cold, probably in the low 50's or high 40's here. But we're determined to complete the drive.

Okay, temps are dropping, we're seeing more snow, and the anticipation for what lies ahead is colder and possibly snowfall.

As we get closer to Beartooth pass, we're reminded of how high we are:

This is "Top of the World" store and motel. They tell us the road just opened for the season the previous weekend, but snow is still possible.

You can see Boxster in the "harsh" conditions:

We enter into freezing and snowing conditions. We are in the clouds and snow.

And still more snow and colder temps ahead:

Getting through the worst and back to "normal" will be in the next post.

Here's the last part of the drive that day. We were in the clouds, it was snowing, and people were skiing.

Finally out of the worst, on the way down.

More twisties ahead.

Civilization is not far away, but I don't think it's here:

We stayed at the Irma Hotel in Cody that night. Very cool.
