car insurance

I currently have 21st century but the rates are through the roof even though i have a clean record.

Does anyone have experience with Costco's Ameriprise insurance? Geico? Mercury? Any insight would be aprreciated. Thank you.

I would try AAA if I were you. Iam only 18 and I pay $100 a month for FULL coverage. Now before anyone says that is crazy calm down, its put as my weekend car for my dad and I. I pay $1800 a year for a car(90 Jetta) with only liability as my primary car,and $1200 for my "weekend car" '99 Boxster. It would have been $3800 if it was my only car in my name with full coverage. Keep in mind I have not been in a single accident, have a 3.0 GPA and did this interactive driving video and it would still be very high if it was my only car.

I don't live in US, but to give you some comparison:

about $3300 for 1 year (I paid yearly for some discount) for full coverage including personal injury (up to $100,000).

In the US, auto insurance is regulated state by state. Within states and by carrier, there are WIDE fluctuations in regulations, rates and contract terms.

It is very difficult to do any valid comparisons such as this on a web site. There are simply too many variables,

I'm paying $1150 a year for full coverage through State Farm in Houston, the 4th largest city in the USA (100k, 300k, $500 deductible). Not bad, but I'm headed to Geico because it's 750.00 a year and I can always find something to do with that difference in cash. Progressive quoted me within 2 dollars of what Geico has quoted me.
