Thanks for the info!

Vintage Gold Metallic finish.
Is that the color or is there another gold color?

How many cans did you use for all 4 wheels?

Its called vintage gold and its part of the true metallics line that came out about a week ago.
True Metallic Plasti Dip - Aluminum, Anthracite & Vintage Gold - YouTube Thats the link for the youtube video of fonz.

Like i said I personally used only three cans of the vintage gold, and one can of glossifier. But you get better results with one can per wheel.

Look at the video its useful.

Edit they already made a bundle pack here is the link https://www.dipyourcar.com/product.php?productid=85&cat=39&page=1

I wonder if Plasti-Dip knows what we have been doing with their product...perhaps that's the reason for the glossifier.

Thanks! I'm only 2.5 months into my first P-car ownership... there are still a lot of works to do, like install new seats, paint calipers, ...etc. But for now I'll leave those black bumperettes alone since it kindda go with the white/black theme. Eventually I may remove them and buy that aluminum plate to cover them up for a clean look.

I have seen the aluminum plate. $200 for flat piece of aluminum though? Must be a factory part!

I think that guy makes it himself maybe with CNC machine, for $200 I would expect factory quality.

I wanted to fix the curb rash but I wanted to try out the plastidip and see how well it worked as a filler. Severe curb rash has to be sanded down and reshaped. Just to let you guys know I did sand one of my wheels because it had some strange bubbling under the original paint. I am assuming that it was improperly refurbished so it bubbled. But anyway Vintage gold is a cool color and at night it looks like gunmetal, until hit by direct light.

I will post more pics in the picture section of this forum.

Bmod, what kind of snow tires are you running!!?

evo-r 06-15-2013 05:52 PM

Bmod986, good job, vintage gold is a nice color too. My 986 came with the same 17" Sport Classic rims which were painted white by previous owner. I'll use them as my winter rims.

I am using the Michelin A/S pilot sports. Their the all season tires, and they are fantastic. I love them. Of course because they have an agressive thread pattern they are not going to be like the michelin pilot super sports in hot dry grip, but these tires are very good for year round use and surprisingly grippy. Also amazing in the rain. As a side note they are expensive, $192 for the front tires and $210 the rears. I got mine at costco.

Evo, before you bought your car I saw the add for it on craigslist. I think you should make those BBSs vintage gold. White with gold is nice.

Here is a bonus picture of the rim I sanded.

I'm getting ready to do the Anthracite Grey to my Carrera Lights. Where did you all buy your Plasti Dip?

particlewave 06-16-2013 08:40 AM

Home Depot if you want it right now, but their only in stock options will be black or white. If you want specialty colors, you'll have to wait for shipping.
