Hello 986 lovers!

Hello there Folks, I'm a recently joined member and have enjoyed searching around your excellent forum. I've owned probably over 20 Porsche's over the years and have loved them all from 928's to Cayennes and 930's to 924's pretty much every model ever made (except a three fifty six) but this is my first ever Boxster and wow am I enjoying owning, but more particularly driving it. Its not quick by any standards as an early 2.5 but boy is it well balanced! It belongs to my 8 year old son Sam so we won't be moving this one on! :-)

I bought it a few months ago it was pretty tired and unloved so I have done a few bits to it - clear front lights and side repeaters, smoked LED rear clusters, new rear window & hood, new Carrera III wheels, respray of the plastic body panels, paint detail and correction of all metal panels, new bonnet badge, new brake fluid, a general service, new tyres, all new suspension- coils, struts, anti roll bars, coffin/control arms front and rear, all new suspension & steering bushings - it drives like new now! Oh... And I also took a flyer on spraying the air intakes, and I love them in silver.... :-)

Hopefully I can contribute a bit here and also learn a lot too. Thanks.

I know the callipers are a "cheat" as a standard car but its too old to comply with new correct detail and too young to comply with "classic car" correctness so... We're having fun!

Also, I did have the car wrapped but was very unhappy with the job and took it off within days of having it done thats when the paint correction came about. But having lived under an ill fitting cover for a few years, this was a real necessity and the reason the wrap was dreamt up in the first place!

Btw - Suspension kit was OE M030 & extra bushes were all 'polybush'.

Welcome Whippy! Neat ride. Was wondering, was it M030 or ROW M030 ?
I wish I had your experiences with other Porsche's- I'm on my first- a 2001S. I just bought the ROW M030 suspension and may 'tweek' it a little to lower it more but your white version is just about where I want mine...

Thanks woodsman! I'm situated in Drogheda just north of Dublin in the Republic of Ireland so Porsches EU market (or market 1) I'm actually just home from the Factory tour and Museum in Zuffenhausen, Stuttgart this weekend. We were very lucky to travel south to RUF automobiles also to see some very impressive metal incl. the CTR Yellowbird and the new RT12T there. Mind blowing weekend but RUF's factory and development centre was amazingly small, smaller than any standard OPC to be honest. They really are punching above their weight on the world stage!

Holy moley small world! I think I read that RUF only has about 30 employees and that most of those are engineers. The boss has a good,clear vision of what he wants to do. So you have what we in North America call ROW M030. I take it the white car is low because of a tired suspension then.

Optical illusion my man! Pics were taken within a few days of each other AFTER the suspension rebuild was done. White one is before I decided I hated the wrap (which was only about 5 days after it went on!)

The only thing weighing down on the white car is the weight of the plastic.... LoL :-)
