overheating! plus abs and battery light on. need help! calling all porsche mechanics!

This is for a Porsche Boxter 986 '97. ~150K miles.

I was driving on the freeway when I heard a loud thump.

Here were my observations:
1. I noticed that the abs light and the battery light turned on.
2. Next I noticed the power steering stopped functioning as it was suddenly difficult to turn.
3. Next I noticed the engine temperature on the dash was rising.
4. I turned the heater on to the max and after about 5 minutes there was no more heat coming from the vents even though the heater was on max. I ceased driving after the temperature raised to about 215 degrees F.
5. There was no water/coolant leaking underneath the car. I observed boiling from the coolant reservoir and cautiously released the pressure.
6. checked the oil dip stick and it didn't look milky.

This is the first experience with overheating, the abs and battery light on this car.

My analysis: I'm thinking that the thermostat is broken. I believe the water pump is still okay since there was no coolant leaking. I'm not sure why the abs and battery light came on.

NEED HELP ASAP! :troll::dance:

Serpentine belt failed and may have done additional damage on it's way out. Open the inspection hatch and take a look.

yupp it was the serpentine belt . I guess all those functions that failed are probably controlled by the belt

yupp, hope you get away with just replacing the belt and refilling/bleeding the cooling system.
