Gas Cap Tether: installed correctly?
My car came with a gas cap w/o the strap or tether. I bought a new cap and the required rivet from Pelican, but then wasn't sure how to properly install it. Yeah, I know, insane. Anyway, is this correct? --

Looks like it's correct. However, my rivet mounts in a different spot. (2004 base)

INCORRECT.
The rivet is in the wrong hole.
If you post a pic that shows more, I can point out the proper mounting hole.

Thanks! Unfortunately, my car doesn't have a hole in the location shown above. I guess I'll just leave it as is. Thx again.

Mine is set up exactly as yours is, as long as it works - problem solved.

Has anyone had to change the locking mechanism on the gas fill door? Mine doesn't lock when I lock the doors like it's supposed to. Haven't seen the part anywhere and don't know how hard it would be to change.

I had the same problem with my 1999. When I put the rivet in the hole under the clip, the lid wouldn't close. I then used a flat head bolt and nut in the same hole and the problem was solved. I like the solution grtc68 used. I was wondering what that screw to the left of the gas cap was for? I think I'll switch to his solution.

Yeah, I ended up moving mine to that location. Works fine. Thanks all, esp grtc68!
