Engine making a noise - again

3 months ago it started rattling 3 days after I bought it. Turned out to be the water pump. Now it's making a noise again. Any thoughts to what it could be? Here is the audio:

Boxster 3.2L Engine Noise - YouTube

PO said the idler pulley had been changed. Alternator has been rebuilt (bearings included). Clutch in or out does not make a difference.

Thanks.

Does the sound change pitch when RPM's increase? Have you tried running the motor without the belt to see if the noise goes away?

Found the problem. A bolt from said water pump change came loose and was rubbing against the belt. In the 2nd photo you can see the belt grindings. A shop changed the pump - so this is their error.

Does that sound like BS? (genuine question)

My dad suspects it may have been like that.

1. The bolt won't screw back on - it seems snug (I didn't try to loosen it though).
2. If it was loose, why is the belt rubbing in 1 exact spot - wouldn't the bolt be turning?

So either it was cross threaded, some dirt is preventing it from screwing back on, it's too long of a bolt, or it is loose.

Any thoughts on this? (the belt is loosened in this photo)
