Boxster Engine Swap in Houston, TX

Hey guys - im looking to swap an engine for my 2000 porsche boxster.. it currently has a 3.2 that is dead so im looking to replace it.. can anybody recommend somebody here in houston to do the work?? Engine may be repairable, I just thought it would be easier to swap one in since I dont really know anybody that could diagnose and fix.. Thanks for any guidance..

Although I cannot help you find someone in Houston, the following link would give you some insight into what is involved: Pelican Technical Article: Boxster Engine Conversion Project - 986 Boxster (1997-04) - 987 Boxster (2005-08). It focuses mainly on swapping the Boxster motor for a higher HP Carrera motor, but the idea is the same. Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks darknight.. I am probably going to talk to one of the dealerships here in Houston to see what the cost would be for labor..

You are only 876 miles from Jake Raby in Cleveland, GA.

I don't know if they do engine swaps but you can sure ask.

http://www.europeancarslimited.com/

They put a new water pump on mine 5 days after I bought it - so far so good 2 months later!

Sent you a PM.

You have an alternative in Austin.

Danny my mechanic buddy has done more than a dozen rebuilds.

He might also have a couple engines already partially rebuilt.

How did the 3.2 fail. I live in Houston< I am by no means an expert but I do know my way around the 3.2. I have a 2000 boxster s that I work on myself and I have been elbow deep into the motor. The pelican parts article is a good source of knowledge I would be sure to change the IMS before installing the other motor. It all depends on what you want out of the motor and how deep your pockets are.
