Windshield "Polishing"
This might sound a bit anal retentive to the general public, but I know some of you guys are as detail oriented as I am. My windshield is not cracked, stained, nor noticeably pitted. However, fifteen years on the highway have left it less than sparkling. What products have you used to bring your windshield back to pristine, and what kind of results have you had?
Strangely enough this the only subject I have never seen addressed on this forum. What say guys? Where's all that collective wisdom?

Bought my year 2000 low mileage(60,000 miles) Box last year and the windscreen appears to be original. It's not perfect but about 90%.
I have always found that if scrubbed with a polyester/cotton blend towel with straight ammonia,the glass is super clean.I then use RainX as it does a good job of filling the microscopic imperfections and I try to remember to change blades every 9 months or so.
I have heard of pro glass shops using bronze wool to scrub off any surface scaling from chemical fallout or hard/high mineral content car wash water.

not to hijack the thread, but for those that were not successful "polishing" the windshield, where did you get your fair priced replacement?

I wonder how some of the newer, high tech, dedicated windshield films would work in this situation? I'm not talking about tear offs.

I have used Griot's Glass Polish & 6" random orbital in the past. Removes most of the wiper smudges.
Wife loves it applied in the same fashion on the shower glass doors too.
