Thanks!

I think we should organize a group buy for this. How about it, Brucelee?

Speaking as a publisher (which is what I do for a living) who sells wholesale to Ingram, who then resells to Amazon.com, I can safely say that the price that Amazon.com is offering is wholesale + 2%. You won't do any better on a group buy from the publisher.

I got the book today. All I got to say is every boxster owner should own one of these if they do any work on the car or just want to know more about it. I would've paid 3 times what I paid. It even covers engine removal! Great book.

The 987 and 986 are pretty similiar. I bet you would be able to use this book as a great reference on your 987!

I just ordered mine from Amazon, too. Great price at $62.97!

Wal-Mart.com has it for $59.19 which I thought was even better, BUT when you add in shipping and 5% state sales tax, it comes to $64.62. Perfect excuse not to buy from Wally World.

Question

You mean you're walmart actually has a Bently service manual for 986's on the shelf or did they say they will order it for you? I can't see my local Walmart carrying something like that but maybe I should check out the book section more.

Actually, I did a google search for "Bentley Boxster Manual" and Walmart.com came up in the search with a price of $59.19. But since they have stores in all 50 states, they must charge sales tax in any state that has it, so you must add that in, along with about $3.00 to ship.

Amazon does not have a brick-and-mortar store, so they are not (yet) required to charge sales tax, and they offer a free shipping option on orders over $50 (I think). So, while their price is higher than Wally World, it turns out to be about $2 cheaper from Amazon.

Over at ppbb one of the users loaned Bentley their car for them to use in some of the preparation for this manual, they also got an early copy and have been reviewing some of it. More importantly though Bentley are going to do a free tech session linked to this in Boston in early January where people can go to their facility in Boston and they'll demonstrate some of the tasks from the book on a Boxster for us.

The organizer is the editor of www.RainyDayMagazine.com I think there are probably places available still for people in the area. Search for posts by rainydaymagazine on the board.

There's also talk of a group discount tied to the session although it's hard to see how they could beat the Amazon/Walmart prices.

Chris.

A friend of mine sells the Bentley Manuals and he says that his distributor has not yet received them either. He says Bentley is notorious for being slow to send out product.

Ok, what did you complain about? That they changed how long they said it would take after you placed the order?
