Metal Crest or....GT3 Crest Decal?

If, and it is only if, i were to refresh the paint on the front of my 2002S ....
should i keep the metal crest on the 'frunk' or get the holes filled and replace with the GT3 crest decal... ?

Saves weight!

Opinions please....

The crest is an icon...especially in gold. I would never consider removing it

+1 on this. The crest isn't what made me drive the car, but the crest is what made the car I drive.

This shouldn't even be a question; metal crest, of course.

it can't be the weight; is it the colour? if so, this guy does black/silver crests:

WTF is a GT3 crest decal? I suggest when you actually own a GT3 you can badge it as such. But, if you own a 986, don't put GT3 stuff on it. That's poser.

A GT3 crest is for a GT3 not a boxster.

call of the dogs folks; it is just a porsche hood crest as a decal instead of a metal emblem. used on the gt2 to reduce weight:

https://www.****************************************************.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=587cd9282a7eac7d5b90a02292 4123ca&Screen=PROD&Product_Code=09112955699

but really, we're talking a few oz at best. hence my question as to intent - reduce weight or different look.

I went with one of these
72mm tall Silver 3D Decals sticker Hood PORSCHE Crest Badge - 3D-Decals
for a different look on the cheap after my original hood crest did its vanishing act .
I rather like the silver crest on my Arctic Silver car, and, at $12 shipped, perfect for this tightwad squarehead.

Oversteer anyone?

The weight savings are negligible, but I would consider doing a crest if I got a carbon fiber hood. Would rather have a sticker stolen than a chunk of carbon fiber ripped off, and no drilling.

It's not about weight savings. Couldn't you tell, it is about reducing aerodynamic drag!

Who'd have thought....

....it was such an emotive subject!

Anyway - i was only talking about replacing the metal hood crest with the 'GT2/3 style' decal crest. I was not passing my 986 off as a GT3. I thought if the 'hood' or bonnet for my UK brothers was being painted was it a consideration to fill the holes, save weight & reduce drag into the bargin.

Anyway, i hear you loud and clear. Its a 986, and it needs a metal crest. Job done.

Love you guys!

Just for Kicks....

Are GT2/3 (996/997) bumpers, splitters etc for GT2s or GT3s and not for 986s? Are 987mirrors and LED tail light for 997s and not 986 - just throwing it out there!

My car is currently visually factory/stock - and very pretty it looks too.
