CTS-V breaks 200 mph legally on Texas highway

A Cadillac CTS-V has become the first car to break 200 mph on Texas’ new 85 mph highway.

But just this one time.

Hennessey Performance, builders of some of the fastest custom cars on the planet, including the 275 mph Venom GT, offered up one of their 1,200 hp Cadillac coupes to test the cameras fitted to the automated toll system on the brand new SH-130 toll road, which boasts the highest speed limit in the nation at 85 mph.

...a typical day going to work on the Busa at home before all the lights, construction and growth.

That would have been a fun run to try, but the guy driving was a tad hard on his shifts.

From frame 0:10 - 0:14 he in and gone in 4 secs!!!!! I wish that was me in his shoes.

Fox is running this and the other car all day here in Tx. Funny thing though TXDot say faster speeds equals less accidents? They sure do care about a dollar... i mean Us here in Texas.

That stretch of highway leads directly to the F1 track
Think the State Troopers will be collecting "special" taxes on that weekend?

FOX nightly news last night reported that the fixed tag readers were able to read the windshield tag (square sticker beside the rear view mirror) at 185mph.

The "regular" CTS-V is scary fast. I did the "Cadillac Experience" at Monticello Motor Club in NY this past June, and the power of that supercharged 6.2L is like a locomotive.

Legally, maybe - one guy was over 200 in a Vette on the way to houston (Hwy 290 exit off of toll road) for Vette meet. I live next to that toll road and it was speed city at night for bikes and fast cars until they started clamping down...
