Pete's on to something. Some rubber tubing over a rope and some pulleys will do exactly what the overpriced Porsche hardtop hoist does (or any hardtop hoist, for that matter).

I wouldn't buy a Porsche model though... to spendy. Any unit that looks sturdy will probably be just fine. And I bet if you look around, you'll find one used for a fraction of the cost of new.
