Post your aftermarket rear speaker setups

Hi all-

I've searched various key words for rear speaker setups but couldn't find much besides details about the PNP kit by a guy named Harvey. I'm trying to fill the cabin with better audio/bass than the stock dash/door setup. I have a new Kenwood head unit which helped a bit. But as most of you have mentioned, it is still very lackluster. If you have an aftermarket or DIY rear audio set up please post it what you got. Looking for ideas that won't break the bank. Thanks!

For what it's worth, here is mine. I have a stock CDR220 but just wanted to fill the sound out a little bit since I don't listen to it too much. I used 1/8" MDF from the orange store (HD) & put some cheap 3-1/2" coaxial speakers from Wally world. I cut the mounting tabs off the cubby boxes to hold the assemblies in place & used a 4 pole trailer connecter set up for the removable storage box/speaker assembly. I can make a scan of the template I made from a simple cardboard box that I can send you if it's helpful. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about the grill situation to cover the openings & conceal the speakers.
I hope this helps.

My plan (when I'll get to the sound system upgrade), it to wrap the plastic piece with this:
Amazon.com: Speaker Grill Cloth Black Yard 70 Wide: Everything Else

I looked at that also, but it's a lot not to use for about 2 sq feet

Brian: Thanks for posting your pics! Nice work. I'm actually looking to add more bass into the system as well without sacrificing foot well space. I'm thinking of adding 2 - 5.25" coaxials into the rear storage compartment right now.

Thanks for the replies all.

rear speaker mounts

Juicepro, where did you purchase the rear compartment speaker mounts? I thought they were discontinued.

Nice DIY setups! Thanks for posting!

Has anyone ever done a custom speaker box in place of the storage compartment? If so, please post.

DFW: Haha. I did the drill in the tailpipe exhaust mod and it sounds good enough for me now. A little better audio wouldn't hurt the experience either.
