Red or Silver? Help Me Decide

So I keep looking at the side vents on my '09, which are currently silver. I'm thinking of having them made red to match the rest of the car. Can this be done by a body shop? Can they just paint the ones I have? Or does it look wrong?
My inclination is to trust the Porsche designers, who made it silver, but the red is interesting as well.

What is your opinion?

I've retouched some before and after pics:

Red is my vote. Then the side scoops will match the treatment of the front ones. To me less is more when it comes to design

Hard to say, may fall into the changing it just to be changing something category. I would like to see black vent & or red wheels while you are retouching.

Hi @PorscheChick,

I tried to paint the side vents to match the main color of the car…silver. It just seemed to have a "washed out" effect. Went back to black with silver trim.

Your side intakes are larger so choose wisely. IMHO the silver blends the lights better.

But, wait a minute! Aren't you a girl? We SHOULD BE getting your opinion on color!

Both are nice but I would go for the red one.

Red all the way, Chick. To me the visual improvement in the 986.2 over the 986.1 is largely due to the body-colored (instead of black) side vents. Your car will likewise show improvement. I've seen it done many times and, just like your Pshopped version, it looks a lot better.

Cheers!

I would definitely get rid of the silver on the side intake vents. However, I would prefer to see them in "trim" black. Also, even though I'm a fan of black wheels, given the soft color of the interior, I'm not sure it would go well.

I say go Red, and then Black on the wheels, somewhat of a red nod to the dangermobile.

Seriously though....

If you can get a good color match, definitely go red

OK...I've been flipping back & forth on this so I emailed your pics to Heidi who is still in winter storage. She took one look and said "red, red, red" as long as it's a match...

Did the car come from the factory with them painted silver? If so and you decide to go red, purchase another pair and have those painted, just in case you wanted to put the car back in original factory condition. I like the silver myself.

This is completely true. I will consult a few women, whose answers will be weighted at least 4x that of any 1 man.

But I thought I'd give you guys a chance, just for hoots.

Yes, the 2009's have these silver vents.
