I'm going to catch heck for this...who can guess what I'm going to do?
De-ambered the car this week, "Porsche Stripe" door decal will be here next week, who can guess what's on the agenda for tonight?
No laughing until the final product is shown :p http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...5143CF98F6.jpg |
Wheels and caliper paint?
|
Green calipers and plasti dip wheels?
|
Yes and yes. ;)
I know I'll get a lot of flak for the color combo, but I think I'm gonna like it ;) ...or I'm really going to hate it. One way to find out. It's all reversible. |
DAMMIT. This is exactly what I have considered doing. Hopefully it turns out good! Got inspired by that 918 911 didn't ya? ;)
|
Yes I did ;)
Making use of that drawer full of plastic bags... http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...5C863E69E0.jpg |
Wait, did you spray the wheels with Plasti Dip???
|
Make the calipers red while there is still time to save them!!!!!!
|
looooooove it!
|
Gotta say that I like it! I think it works perfectly on your car.
|
Awesome! Awesome!
|
I love it! Very unique - do what you like!
|
If it will turn out like the photoshop, then it will be awesome!
|
Totally cool! I love it when people do mods for themselves and what they like verses following the norm!
|
So, what do you do with the plasti dip?

Still have to peel off the overspray. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...0345F239F3.jpg Thanks for the encouragement! One wheel and caliper down...unfortunately, I have to work the next 3 days, so the project must wait :( |
Thought I would hate it. It even 'sounds' yucky
but I gotta admit it kind of fits the car.
The look is like little 'eyes peering back at ya'. Where is a lady's opinion when you need it? |
Good good, you have almost the exact same wheels I do. I was seriously considering doing this for a while on my Arctic Silver. Even painted my wheels a gunmetal grey. I think I settled on doing a bright silver in the end. Still got another month or so before I go ahead and paint.
This is what my crappy photoshop looked like, with my wheels how they are. http://imageshack.us/a/img163/8584/contea.jpg |
Just out of interest. Why the plastidip?

It's an experiment...if I like the matte black look, I may get them painted down the line. ;) |
Paint later on or powder coating as the later is what I went with and love the performance in harsh conditions.

I haven't clear coated the calipers yet(decals won't arrive until mon), but I thought I'd slap the wheel on and see how she looks...I think I like it ;)

I'm going to catch heck for this...who can guess what I'm going to do?
I think it looks great!
I may try that plastic dip stuff this summer to how I like it. |
Looks good. I had my wheels plasti dipped for over a year and it aged very nicely, with the occasional touch up.
It was tough to peel off for me after that year though, it didn't come off too smoothly. It was more time consuming than those Youtube videos had shown. |
Getting there...wheels and calipers are done ;)
http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...CBA708A8FD.jpg I think I'm going to need smoked tail lights now... http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...F71C117FF4.jpg |
Glad you like it. ;)
|
Looks groovy !
|
plasti dip the side intakes. Those PORSCHE stripes are a must.
|
I'm getting there...had hoped to have it all done this week, but I'm a little over meticulous and took longer on the wheels and calipers than I had planned.
Decals and intakes may have to wait until next week. Good top down weather today and I don't want to spend it in the garage ;) |

Your wheels and calipers are looking totally sweet and I love the contrast with the car...but there is something about that green! You can have so much fun with the intakes as they offer a wide range of things to do... These are mine: http://s19.postimage.org/xn08qa31v/Intake.jpg |
Looking good!

Progress has come to a stand still for now. I figure that the decals and intakes will take up an afternoon, and the HID retrofit for my new clear headlights will take a day or two. Between work and classes, I hope to have it done by next week ;) |
Intake shrouds removed...
http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...B19FE8675E.jpg And five coats later... http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/a...B188CF0AE2.jpg Going to let these dry over night and start on the decals ;) |
Driver side done. Still need to trim around the door and wheel wells.

Hell yea! I like it, I have plasti dipped mine and love it. you can use any UV protector to make it age better... A tip for anyone doing it, wipe your overspray, dont let it dry, the edge of the rim will adhere better thus less touch ups
If you are going to smoke your tail lights DONT. Ill buy your non ambered lights and give you my stock ones! |
|
It definitely looks better, can't say I would have gone neon green on the brake calipers, but it does look better overall.
|
I am diggin the latest iteration.
Agree with ccstud17, don't darken the tailights...has a very nice flow right now. |
