'twas done before long ago, but it is one of the least repeated topics (as opposed to how to clean the rear window ;))... check out http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/369-boxster-music.html

cleaning the rear window...one of my favorite topics! I think we should repeat that on a regular basis.

I favorite driving tune is:
turn the radio off and listen to the car!

Umm... "I'm thinking about buying a Boxster but I hear they have lots of problems... should I get one and what should I look for?"

Awesome, that was from the video game Gran Turismo (2, I think). A great one though (It's not bad to work out to too).

I think this topic is can be brought up again, as music and musical preferences are always changing... although the list above looks rather... dare I say, old school (ZZ TOP? [no offense]).

I'm 28, so my list may be different... I don't care for Techno music all that much, but when I'm driving... I can dig it. I try to time the stripes in the road to the uber-fast beats, yo.

Also, my list changes whether or not it's day or night, AND whether or not I've got the top down or the hard top on. Plus my current musical phases play a big part of it. Currently I enjoy Death Cab for Cutie (It's not as bad as it sounds), Newsboys, and The Killers.

How about Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car - Billy Ocean
Can't go wrong with that song!

Ooh, this is a good time to plug www.allofmp3.com. Does anyone here use this? I love it! Buy entire CDs for a little over a dollar! If ya pay for it, it MUST be legal, right?
(Thank you Mother Russia.)

I am only 18 and listen to ZZ Top and have been since I was 16. Great music can be enjoyed by all generations.

That it is true my brutha... but something about ZZ Top strikes me as very... un-Porsche-ish, if i may coin a new term.

To each his/her own...but I agree, something about ZZ Top and that old school rock coming out of a Porsche....ouch.

Now I am 38, and have actually seen ZZ Top live, but tend to gravitate towards the modern alternative stuff. I like to keep up with the times and enjoy the likes if Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Death Cab For Cutie (folkish and quite mellow...you'd be surprised), Foo Fighters, Jack Johnson, and the world's greatest rock and roll band of all time.............U2.

As a matter of fact, I just had a new Kenwood head unit and MB Quart system put in my '97 Boxster and am loving this new level of sound.

Next up...a new amp and perhaps a subwoofer! WOO HOO!

RIDE

Any good music - I have pretty varied tastes, probably non-Porsch-ish, but here goes:

THE Boxster song for me: Green Day/Holiday. Always played before and after track.

Interstate/freeway music: All the way from Nat King Cole to Allison Krause & Union Station to Keith Urban to old REM stuff. Variety is good. Easy listening music helps me keep the speed down and avoid tickets. If I put on rock, the go pedal tends to go down farther.

ZZ Top is good, "Legs" is a old favorite and the video had the cool red car in it.

And a good bit of the time: Engine sounds only.

I am looking at getting an iRock FM transmitter for the MP3 player - only $40 so if it's static-y will post & let you know.

This isn't a comment on personal taste - no offense intended to anyone, but.......
These are the funniest set of posts i've eva read here!

Miserable monday morning in Manchester, UK.
It has even started snowing, should be a good ride home:)

Thanks guys, keep em comin'

deliriousga 11-28-2005 08:01 AM

Any album by "Skillet" adds 20-30 mph to the speedo. :D It's the reason cruise control is a must.

Great website at http://www.skillet.com/

How 'bout "Jesus Take the Wheel", by Carrie Underwood?
Particularly after grabbing that 55mph freeway on-ramp at 85.

RandallNeighbour 11-28-2005 10:16 AM

I've taken to blaring Pavorotti's Wedding Songs as loudly as I can tolerate while driving around town with the top down. It really makes everyone around me think I'm rich and snooty.

Then when no one is around I crank up La Grange by ZZTop, my favorite song in the whole world. In fact, the day I bought the car I knew I had to crank up some tunes from my home town band with the top down.

Creed is also good, and I also like Nickelback, but the lyrics are often so offensive I can't listen to them although the music itself is excellent for downshifting through corners :)

limoncello 11-28-2005 10:41 AM

Shouldn't the correct answer be (D) Any opera by Wagner? Or is that reserved for the 911 group? :D

cfos 11-28-2005 11:23 AM

I have to admit that I am a little surprised to see so many ZZ top fans driving Porsche. I guess I'm a little senesitive since I get a lot of comments when I drive my PT crusier (j/k).

My boxster build date is in December and I will likely install satellite radio (XM, I like top tracks 45, and Deep tracks, 40), but I think I'll probably keep a few Phish cds (Hoist, Round Room and Farmhouse), some Tenacious D and some Bob Segar. Wait! I think I just filled up the trunk! (j/k). Of course, Steely Dan is a must too. On a side note, I was a little surprised a few weeks ago. The Dalai Lama spoke at a Neuroscience Conference in Washingto DC and before he spoke, the lecture hall pumped out Steely Dans' "Two against Nature" cd all the way up to "Cousin Dupree". I wonder if the Lama is a Dan fan...?

blinkwatt 11-28-2005 11:30 AM

Tenacious D out of a Boxster? What is this world coming to!

cfos 11-28-2005 01:17 PM

I'll be sure to mix in the London Philharmonic Orchestra playing the tunes of Pink Floyd with the Tenenacious D.

threpwood 11-28-2005 04:11 PM

I love slow jazz & pop so I usually play babyface and fourplay. The babyface's newest album (grown & sexy) is quite good IMO.

Jeph 11-28-2005 04:23 PM

Goodness I am finding this post to be most bizarre! While most of these tunes can be classified as "good music," it doesn't seem to favor the sophisication that one would expect from German Car Enthusiasts.

Is it just me, or do some of these seem PERFECT for a Camaro?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, "to each their own" "diff'rent strokes" and all that jazz... but which one doesn't belong?
