You need the extraction kit (all of it), the job cannot be done without it.

I bought my 2001 Boxster base 40k miles, now 50k miles a year and a half ago.
The PPI stated minor rms leak/mist. I have done nothing about it and see no oil on the garage floor. I have had installed the IMS Guardian and don't worry about too much of anything. Each person has to make their own decision as each person has their own comfort level.Hope this helps!

My RMS is weeping but never yet seen a drip on the floor. There is no guarantee a new one will be any better from reading on here, I would say live with it until it becomes worse.

Are you getting the clutch and flywheel replaced at the same time? did they say how much that was?

That is a good price. Had my 2003 2.7 for 2 years now and (touch wood) no issues at all yet - car's been bullet proof. I will make the specialists who service the car keep an eye out when they change the oil as always.

I believe anything up to 20% of cars will have an IMS issue during their lives so not high enough percentage for me to do this for no reason.
