Bleeder valve o-rings or whole assembly
2000 2.7 Have occasional condensation on my trunk lid. Tank was replaced by PO about 6 years/10k miles ago. Coolant cap changed to latest 04 recently. Fully cleaned out top area of tank around bleeder valve and drain. I can see now that I am definitely getting deposits all around the base of the bleeder valve assembly where it meets the top of the tank. I gently tightened the screws some but am still getting some condensation. Don't want to tighten any more, the seals should be doing there job at this point I would think.
So thinking of pulling it and replacing the O-rings. Where can I order the rings or better yet, a whole new bleeder valve assembly. They are not listed on Pelicans pages.

Be very careful with the screws, they thread into plastic and can strip the plastic very easily. Ask me how I know.

Yes, this has occured to me based on previous posts. Did you strip any pulling them out or just putting them back in. Cross threading upon reinsertion into plastic is easy to do as I know well too.
The leaking is very minor, perhaps best left alone. On the other hand these easily accessible repairs are too enticing to not try!

I stripped it by overtightening. I was able to get a larger diameter screw in it, but I still had the condensation since my problem was the tank was leaking.

Did you find out where the leak was coming from? Someplace else or from the area of the bleeder valve?

Leaking tank caused the condensation.

Right. Where was leak on the tank? Normally cracks occur down under. Was yours cracked up top somewhere?

Mine was cracked at the bottom, classic failure.

Been getting condensation on a more regular basis the past few weeks. Removed the bleeder valve today to check out the o-rings. Inner o-ring was just fine. The outer one however was deformed by the series of ribs that it sits up against in the valve body and had a small chunk taken out on one of the creases. Ordered some new o-rings online, 4x17 and 4x47 high temperature fluorocarbon. I believe those are the right sizes. The larger one in mine looks like it is just slightly too large, hence the deformation. The tank holds pressure just fine and shows no evidence of leaks underneath, so this appears to be the problem.
The bolts btw were easy to both remove and reinstall. I used a small nut driver to make sure that I was not cross-threading or over-tightening. It took a while to get the valve up however, tight fit.
Will report back once they arrive and are installed.

Hi There
Is the condensation on the whole of the boot lid or is it in the area above the fill cap?

I'll risk jinxing myself here and report that installing the new o-rings went smoothly and I haven't had a hint of condensation since. derfo, the condensation was only on the area directly above the fill cap.
This was a really easy fix, highly recommended.
