Tiptronic shift console illumination

Hi everyone, I have a 2002 S Tiptronic and would like to know if there is any illumination of the gear shift console. I have a vague recollection of mine being illuminated at some time but can not positively recall. I have searched everywhere in the workshop manual but can find no reference anywhere to a bulb or anything confirming the existence of a bulb in the vicinity.
Does anybody out there know please?

are you talking about the gear shift selector? (P R N D + -)? then no. it does not illuminate. if you are talking about the indicator on the gauge (next to the fuel / temp dials) then yes, that illuminates the currently selected gear.
