Which 911? I really like the "101 Projects for your 911 " book, I picked it up from Pelican Parts 10 years back.

The 996. His dashboard blinker is blinking really fast, and the outside bulb is burned out, it's my understanding that these things go together.
Does that book have simple stuff like the headlight bulbs?
What about the Boxster book, would it cover oil changes? I may need to find one for my year.
I feel like such a newb . . . but that's good, I like to learn new things.

Yep, covers both big & small projects. Worth buying IMO.

same as on a 986. open the frunk, pull back the side carpet. insert the tool from the toolset into the correct hole. turn and the headlight assembly slides out. replace bulb, put assembly back in place and turn tool the otherway to lock it down.

and yes, the 101 projects book is great for the DIYer who wants to do most things at home. it covers everything from washing the car to changing the IMSB...

Taillights
I found changing the taillights to replace the ambered ones to be an easy procedure that had a huge impact. Overall, I'd advise one to go slow, but it can't rate more than a 2 on the noob scale.

I am surprised no one mentioned changing the air filter going into the cabin. That is easy, Takes one tool, a screwdriver. And you are rewarded by funk-free air inside. Winter is the best time to do it since you can open the "big vent" (top) in summer.
That was my first "mod", now I am tackling the IMS.
