To many of you - All Carrera's suck! Period. Cayman PDK turbo would be fun. That's about it for P-cars for me.

It has been paid off since I bought it and we have other vehicles to drive the family around. It is not taking up any space. I Don't really have time to drive it unless I am going to a meeting. I am home for the most part of the week as I am Mr. Mom. I will have her for now and catch up on some maintenance. (clutch, flywheel, water pump, oil etc.)

As for a price?????? I would love to get 25k for it but the reality is someone will probably offer around 15k and that is just no reason to let it go.

I agree with you there. A move from a Boxster to a water cooled 911 is not an upgrade. I've driven 996s, 997s and 991s and none of them appealed to me more than my 986. I think it was suggested just so you could get the back seats. But a 944 has back seats too and personally, I'd rather be driving one of those.

Can't we all just get along............

Jaay, I don't know if you wanted people to talk you out of selling, into selling, or what. What I do know is if you do indeed sell and the wife won't let you get another fun car, there's likely gonna be a heckuva tide of resentment building in a few months.

I have to agree. I don't try to tell my husband to do, or not do, anything. He does the same for me.

I'm a fan of the air-cooled Carreras. I don't really care that aside from the Turbos, they're not the most powerful. What I like most is that they're well positioned in the market to rise in value instead of bleeding it like the non-GT 996/997/991 Carreas.

All that being said, and after reading many of the Carrera forums for years, particluarly the water-cooled 996/997 folks, I find that a superiority complex takes a hold of many of them. Doesn't matter if its a 944, 928, Boxster, Cayman many have an attitude that these other Porsches aren't simply different but actually lesser Porsches. Many of these snooty types also strike me as the type who have never once tracked or autocrossed their 911 which makes the whiff of superiority from this sort of person all the more amusing. It's like "okay you drive the street engine version of an endurance racer but you haven't anymore driving skill than the average sedan driver? And you're an expert on how non-Carreras are lesser Porsches? Oh - kay...". To be fair these types don't seem to be a majority... but aren't nearly as small as I first imagined either.
Even amongst the folks who do track and autocross their Carreras I still get these silly comments here and there. Meanwhile when I would run with the SCCA non-Porsche clubs its a totally different attitude. I'ts like they actually know more about the differences in midengine and rear engine handling in Boxsters/Caymans and Carreras than the actual people driving Porsches. It tell my friend its sort of like the wine and cheese crowd (for the most part) vs. the guys who actually race whatever they can get their hands on and don't have a ton of cash to blow on toys. The lap times reflect this as well...Around here you might go to a Porsche club event and see 1.00 - 2.00 second gap amongst the top 7 drivers while at an SCCA or regional club you might see the first 7 drivers separated by less than 0.6's in completely different cars. It's almost as if the better and more informed drivers are the ones with the smaller budgets.

You just completely illustrated my point.

An Addendum.......I came back to edit / ad this to my above one sentence response so as to not generate too much ire, that was not my intent. I owned a 2002 Boxster S for several years, great car, loved it. I wanted to move up / on / laterally / whatever you want to perceive it as to an air cooled 911 since they were holding if not gaining value vs. dropping as the Boxsters were. Since making the switch about a year and a half back I frequent the 911 boards much more so than this one for obvious reasons. In that time I frankly have never witnessed postings or conversations untowards Boxsters in any way, I've honestly never seen the topic addressed in the two years I've spent on those forums (granted I'm mainly on the 993 section). If anything, it's pretty amusing to observe the air cooled guys crack on the 996 water cooled cars as less than worthy of the monicker, I guess there has to be a perceived hierarchy everywhere huh lol? I recently came back to see what's been going on here and the number of posts regarding the general idea was surprising. My 2 cents.
