Curbed one of my wheels looking for suggestions

Took my Boxster for a nice vacation this past week. As I am driving out of the parking lot heading home I made a turn and felt the rear lift just a little and then heard a loud scrapping sound as my wheel slid down the curb. Now I have a nice 3 inch scrape on my wheel. :ah:

Anyone ever use one of those wheel repair places? Can they really make it like new? Should I just buy a new one? Anyone ever bought a wheel off of Ebay? What are the chances an Ebay wheel is just repaired? Anyone know where I can get a single rear Carrera wheel for a good price?

I know this would be a great excuse to buy some aftermarket wheels but I really like the Carreras. I think they look good on the car and they are nice and easy to clean.

Thanks for the input.

boxstter, sorry to hear about your mishap. I hope you had a great vacaton, and remember those thoughts more than the scratched wheel.

Yes, the wheels can be repaired very successfully. Do some searching on this forum, and you will see some results from happy members.

I think buying a wheel (or two- they might not want to sell just one) on E-Bay is a great idea. They usually say if the wheel has been repaired. Look at the sellers satisfaction rating too. Send them an e-mail and ask flat out if it has ever been repaired. Or have the e-mail you photos that are very close-up.

Good luck.

The Carrera 5 spoke wheels look amazing on a Boxster. Another road you may want to follow is BBS,OZ Racing and of course Fiske wheels. Fiske wheels look simply amazing on Boxsters.

I just had two of my wheels (18" twist) repaired. It's amazing! You would never know they were scraped by the previous owner. The repair guy even came to my home and did the job in the driveway!

I was so impressed, I had him fix the wheels on my wife's Acura TSX.

My wife has a thing about curbs...

Total cost for 6 wheels was $375. Worth every penny!

I started this job two weeks ago. Weather permitting I should be able to finish the job this weekend. Scraped both right side wheels against a curb in downpour.
Looks good so far, smooth to the touch. Now I need to wet sand (400 grit) the bondo and duplicolor primer filler so that its completely flush.
Took about 2 hours to do both wheels.

Wheel Enchacements is a great place to buy wheels and tires...But they do not do their own work on repairs. They actually call over a local mobile guy to do all the work. Working directly with the guy (Son Tran) is about $75.00 a wheel, through wheel enchancements its about $150 a wheel. Take your pick. He did my wheels and did an awesome job... all four for $300.00.

Let me know and i can pass along his number to anyone interested. He works with many local dealers in the area as well....Porsche, Ferrari, Bently....
